I have a friend that is an ardent socialist. He's been all for Hillary since last year and has always considered capitalism the root of all evils.

Well, after talking to me about politics and what not for all this time, he finally says to me the other day, "You know, you were right. I really should have voted for Ron Paul".

I don't know, doesn't seem like much on here, but to me this is a HUGE victory. I never thought this guy could ever come around. Backing socialism is almost a nationalistic thing for him (He grew up in Russia).

Now instead of voting Obama he's either going Barr or Baldwin, probably Baldwin.

I guess people can surprise you if you're willing to invest enough time into them.

Oh, this is a big victory. Hopefully you can use this to help influence more socialists, inside or outside your circle of friends.

aww a nationalist socialist type. All you had to do was point to the Nazi Party or give him The Road to Serfdom to read. Good job.

Great job!

These small personal victories seriously add up. Yeah, its just another person who realized the truth. But if you think about the amount of people on this board, and the amount of people we have talked to. It truly adds up to an extremely large number.

Awesome! I had to do the same thing myself. I went from mindless social conservative, to Trotskyist, to two-party duopolist, to Paulite.

That's a huge swing! GJ!

You can call me a conspiracy theorist as long as I can call you a coincidence theorist.

Haha this is off topic, but that is a jolly good quote that I've never heard before.

Russia aye?

You know what did it? Ron Paul's defence of Russia - in the Georgian thing.

I guarantee it. And if not; show him that anyway - to SURE him up.! ;)

I can't claim credit for it, hehe. Not sure who the author is.

Yeah, Russia. It started with convincing him that America is extremely socialist already. That took a long time. He's a very logical person and once it started settling in that all of his gripes towards American 'capitalism' is really just problems with socialism, he started to come around.

This Georgian situation was just icing on the cake :)

I believe in Russian Communism and I still voted for Ron Paul. Hillary Clinton isn't a socialist, neither is Obama. They are neocon nazis.

Why are you rolling your eyes? Do you disagree with the fact that capitalism unregulated results in the slavery of the working class by large corporations that grow and the people end up becoming dependant upon? Do you disagree capitalist society is anarchy with a monetary system, the warlord with the most money runs the show?

"There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism -- by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide." – Ayn Rand, LA Times, 9/2/62
