He's supposed to announce that he's running on The Tonight Show. This article: http://www.examiner.com/a-914917~Campaign_officials_hope_for_smoother_course .html
says that he's going to be on the show tomorrow night.

It'd be cool to have the audience taken over by Ron Paul supporters. I envision Thompson formally making is announcement that he's running... you hear some cheering, then you start to hear "RON PAUL... RON PAUL... RON PAUL". That'd be nice, free publicity.

OMG that would be so cool.. It'll have to be a covert operation.. Where is this broadcast from? Cali or NY? Get this message out to the cooresponding meetups.. Is the show live or taped?

Let's get out there and support RON PAUL L.A. Would love to see him say that he is entering the presidential ring and then all of a sudden the crowd started chanting RON PAUL.

I don't know any details at all on when the show is taped. Hopefully someone here has access to that, and yeah, I think this is worth forwarding onto the meetups. If they won't put Ron Paul on the tonight show, we'll put him on there!

This should be an action item every time a candidate goes on Leno, Letterman, etc.

The tonight show is pretaped, not live. More than likely, if a small group of people started chanting Ron Paul, they would be kicked out and they would restart Fred's segment.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't try it though. If it was pulled off it would be awesome.

You are going to have to think of soething more sophisticated - something Jay would like?

I don't like the implication that Ron Paul is lesser than Fred. I know you don't feel that way either, but I personally couldn't do anything to suggest RP is lesser than Fred. hah I say go with "RP... RP... RP". If it doesn't work, we can revise our plan for the next candidate that goes on air :)

I've never been to a taping of a major show like that, so I don't know what constitutes a re-take. I could see us chanting that and Jay making a joke about it and they move on... and we get our publicity.

Well what do they expect from a guy who switches into a nice red chevy truck before meeting supporters:

a quote taken from a Fred article:
---
Although some of his campaign staff protested the move as cheesy, they leased Thompson a red Chevy pickup and he hit the road. Cooper attempted to paint Thompson as phony, calling him a “Gucci-wearing, Lincoln-driving, Perrier-drinking, Grey Poupon–spreading millionaire Washington special-interest lobbyist.” But voters loved the truck. They didn’t seem to mind that the candidate often switched from a sedan to the truck just miles from his appearances. “We couldn’t believe anyone was buying it,” says Kopp. “We underestimated him. What we didn’t get is that Fred is the country version of a street kid. He’s been talking his way out of situations since he was in high school. He’s a charmer. People fall for it.”

I have trust me he ain't gonna let a demostration like that take effect - hence the cheeky joke idea of the RP for VP thingee

We could also go for the DeadHeads for Fred thing

Does anyone know who was substituting for Rush on Friday? He sounded pertty good. I remember him saying that we need more people who are fiscally libertarian and socially conservative. Sounds exactly like Dr. Paul to me..

what about chanting Law and Order, instead of Thompson?

i.e. Fred enters, people start chanting FRED! FRED!, and you hijack it and start yelling LAW & ORDER! LAW & ORDER! WOOOO

That would paint him as an actor who people only like for his show, then when someone asks you why you like Thompson...say Because he was on law & order

How about RP for VP. Its short and it rhymes. And when Leno is like what are they saying, and Fred's face turns red.. than someone can shout Ron Paul for vice president real loud. Name recognition is all that matters. And fred's face would be priceless.

It could be one of those breakthrough moments, or nothing. It certainly can't hurt. I agree by chanting ROn Paul, it will be cut out. I've been to prerecordings before and they chop everything up and do like 20 segmants and reedit into one show.

I strongly disagree with any chanting of Ron Paul for VP. No one cares who wants to be VP right now. It would go right over the head of anyone who saw it and they'd be confused if they ever heard about Ron Paul for president.

I guarantee you that somebody from Fred Thompson's campaign or faux "grassroots" is reading and monitoring this thread.

Edit: I'm not saying, "don't do it". Just saying you will have to be covert and smart about it.

The MSM was unsuccessful at shoving Ghouliani, McCain and Rombot down our throats, so the neocon backup Fred Thompson is stepping in.

Ron Paulites, let's bury this gentleman down with the rest of them.

For the neocons, being a fiscal libertarian apparently doesn't apply to foreign policy.
