Libertarian seeks D.C. shadow Senate seat

Washington City Paper recently had a favorable piece on Damien Ober, whose guerilla theater campaign for the District of Columbia shadow U.S. Senate seat has evolved into a real Libertarian campaign. Oberís campaign videos are at YouTube.

Shadow U.S. Senate seat?

For our shadow government. ;) /jk

I'm assuming this is the same status Puerto Rico's senators have.

Shadow U.S. Senate seat?

Oh, yeah, it's an election for a pretend office (I mean that in the "pretender to the throne" sort of a way). I think when the territories were organizing and trying to demonstrate that they were ready for statehood, one of the things they would do would be to elect "shadow" Reps. and Senators. Hence my quotation in the article. ;)

I think the shadow senator has a real office and a real budget.

I think the shadow senator has a real office and a real budget.

DC provides them with one. It is scant, I believe.
