I don't follow republican politics closely enough to know whether she was the best pick but I will tell you this much, strategically, it was a brilliant move to find a conservative woman to fill the VP spot.

I watched her at the convention, and I was duly impressed, although I've always been wary of people who attack their opponents and she did a lot of that. (Notice Ron Paul has never stooped to that level.)

The thing that pisses me off about the Gibson interview was the blatant bias he exhibited against her in comparison to his love-fest interview with Obama. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAEnu89dxCY Look at his demeanor with Obama and compare it with Palin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubsUQKd9c7c

As to the Bush doctrine question: If Palin was running on a Bush ticket, I would have expected her to know every detail about his policies, experience, philosophies, etc. She damned will better have that knowledge of McCain. But on this, she gets a pass from me, although I didn't like her answer regarding the justification of a preemptive strike.

I hope there is a serious backlash against Gibson. He is a prime example of what is wrong with the media.

It's pretty traditional for the VP to play the attack dog role.

HotAir.com (neocon site; don't waste time reading the comments. They're sheep) has a piece you might be interested in: http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/13/did-gibson-have-a-double-standard-for-palin/

I don't care one way or another about Palin. I am not voting for McCain.

LOVE the cartoon, thanks. Yes, I've heard that VPs generally play attack dog. I don't agree with it.

ANother site compared Obama's speech with Palin's speech, and actually he attacked more than she did. It's just that Democrats have notoriously thin skin, me thinks.

If Palin's interview was softballish, then what the hell do you call Obama's interview?

I didn't know what the heck the "Bush Doctrine" was either. I think most poeple don't know what it is either so they are not going to win any points against her by continuing to push it. Also there is not one clear definition of exactly what the "Bush Doctrine" is anyway. Yes, the media is biased against Republicans, especially conservative Republicans. If Obama were a conservative Republican no one would even know his name today.

You should.

I think it's sad nobody noticed that George Bush's foreign policy of preemptive strikes was a radical change from previous foreign policies.

And the Bush Doctrine always has had as its cornerstone preemtive strikes. The details may change in the defintion, but the cornerstone has remained the same.

She may be president.... she should have known.

That was a softball interview, and she still blew it. She actually tried to claim that seeing Russia from Alaska gave her more credibility. I'm sorry, even thinking that makes her an even bigger airhead. She believed her own hype.

Palin: Iraq war 'a task that is from God'

By GENE JOHNSON – 5 hours ago

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."

In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it "God's will."

There's a thread somewhere about how the Palin interview was edited quite a bit and so her comments were somewhat taken out of context. I don't have time to find it right now, but it's definitely worth a read.
