Jean-Marie Le Pen is not a National-Socialist. When his father was killed by a German mine he took up his father's gun and fought in the resistance against the Germans. Had he been a real national-socialist, his Front National Party would not be legal in France as National-Socialism is outlawed there.

He was taken out of context when he said that the Nazi death camps were a 'detail of history' in 1987. He was referring to an infamous holocaust denier, Mr Faurison, of which he expressed negative views on in the same speech. He apologized 3 days later to anyone he may have offended.

Here he condemns the holocaust.

Here he explains his remarks.

Here is a list of WWII resistants against the Germans who supported Mr Le Pen's candidacy for the President of France.

Some 'inconvenient' facts.

There is the 'National Circle of Jewish Frenchmen', part of the Generations Le Pen branch of the FN, headed by Mr Robert Hemmerdinger, who fought in the resistance in WWII and is a holder of the French Resistance Medal, which defends Mr Le Pen from the hateful slander campaign against him.

When Mr Le Pen was elected as the youngest deputy of the National Assembly, he brought along into the National Assembly Capitaine Roger Sauvage, a WWII French Hero of the Normandie-Niémen Air Squadron, from la Martinque, a French island in the Carribean.

In 1958 when Mr Le Pen was re-elected, his substitue was Mr Ahmed Djebbour, an Frenchman of Arab origin. Mr Le Pen was the first deputy ever to bring a colleauge of Arab origin and of the Muslim faith into the National Assembly. Mr Le Pen lost his left eye defending Mr Djebbour at the time of a lynching by Communist sympathizers of the FLN.

Mr Le Pen was a friend of the famous Black American Mr Reverend Walter Fauntroy, the leader of the Civil Rights March in Washington DC in 1963 and one of the leaders of the Civil Rights movemnet along with Mr Martin Luther King.

Mr Le Pen has many friendly relations in Africa, and for a long time he proposed the organization of a policy of honest Co-development with African countries.

Mr Le Pen's wife, Mrs Jany Le Pen, heads the SOS Enfants d'Irak, subsided by the FN, which is a charity organization for Iraq Children and she also is active with charity in Cameroon.

Mr Bruno Gollnisch's (a high ranking member of the FN) wife is Japanese.

Since she was elected to EU parliament, Ms Marine Le Pen, Mr Le Pen's daughter and vice-President of the FN, voluntarily joined the delegation for relations with Israel, a testimony to the FN's refusal of anti-semitism, and she has said anti-semitism is unacceptable in modern society.

As shown here and today, there are still many people who deliberately ignore or manipulate the slander that the Front National is a racist and xenophobic party, especially those so called 'anti-racist' organizations, who are no more than hyprocrites, and close racists themselves, in fact a politically correct version of the KKK. The Front National treats all Frenchmen in the same way, regardless of distinction. It is Francophile, not xenophobic. It attacks bad immigrant policies which allow mass immigration, not the immigrants themselves, unless if they are illegal or have committed crimes. The FN is not extremist, it is not hostile to the French Republic or Democracy, and the fundamental philosiphy of the FN is the freedom of the French people.

Mr Le Pen has also met famous world leaders, such as Preisdnet Reagan of the United States and Pope John Paul II.

+no offense, i support some of his ideas (sovereignty, border protection..) but i just cannot support a person who thinks that a human being can be judged by the color of his skin.

This thread was intended as a discussion of the issues dealing with French and EU politics raised in the interview.

Mr Le Pen was taken out of context on that quote again by his enemies. He said that there was inequality of races in sport, which is basically just like saying that the French are better at making food than the Germans and the Germans are better at making machines than the French. This is generally well known and it is not rascist to say that.
