MODS! LEAVE THIS ON THE MAIN DISCUSSION BOARD

Hi everyone

I've just spent 2 months living in Oregon. It's the most most wonderful place on Earth. I arrived back in England yesterday and I'm suffering withdrawl symptoms already. America is as addictive as nicotine! So Lets keep it that way huh!!!!!
AND!!! Best of all! I have just married the most wonderful woman, an American lady, and she is simply wonderful.

So anyway!!!!!!

All I want to say is.........

Ron Paul is my Uberhero! I bought his book from a little bookstore in Astoria, (run by an ex-vet, Mike.....a true bloody hero and ex Vietnam Vet.)

So folks......don't lose heart. Don't give up the fight. Don't stop fighting for the things that made America great.

The people WILL wake up.

Once the bill for Fannie and Freedie and the debacle in Iraq comes due, the people will realize they have become bankrupted by this system. It is EVIL personified.

I was speaking to a couple in Astoria and they were saying that they were thinking of emigrating back to the land of their forefathers, Denmark. That is how bad things have got. I politely pointed out that as Denmark is now a full member of the EU, I might be more sensible to stick around and defend the future of freedom IN AMERICA.

AMEN TO THAT

So folks. Don't lose heart. Keep on fighting. Keep on spreading the word. Don't give up.

DON'T GIVE UP

I wish the British people were more receptive to the ideas of liberty and freedom

But it's an uphill struggle to educate people here. The British are totally addicted to welfarism and the notion that government can solve all our problems.

IT'S MADNESS when you think about it.

I'm applying for US citizenship because it is the last crusade. Freedom and liberty will only survive if the AMERICAN PEOPLE WAKE THE FEKK UP.

I've seen the light in Astoria. There's very little corporatism. Apart from Safeway and the gas stations, there's no corporatism here. All the businesses are owned by local people. There is a strong sense of community there. People help eachother out. This is an oasis in a desert. This is how life should be.

The Ron Paul movement is in its infancy. This will be a long haul. Be patient but be commited. DON'T GIVE UP. DON'T SURRENDER TO INFIGHTING. SOD BOB BARR!

Ultimately, the movement is self fullfilling because people will always accept freedom in preference to state control and communism. This is a battle that cannot be lost even is sacrifices have to be made along the way because GOOD will ALWAYS PREVAIL over EVIL, no matter hoe bad things get

So keep it going folks!

It really shows Ron Paul is not just an American hero but a champion of all people.

Thank you for sharing!

YES!

He really is.

Incorruptable and totally honest.

I doesn't matter if you disagree with some of the things he says. It is his absolute honesty and integrity that makes him stand out.

He is without doubt, an outstanding individual and I love hime from the bottom of my heart.

I never imagined I'd feel so strongly about a politician......but Ron Paul transcends politics. he is HUMAN. He is REAL. He cares about PEOPLE. I want to buy him a beer!

Yeah I was thinking of going back to the land of my forefathers also, Russia. Though, doesn't seem like a good idea to be in U.S or Russia right now, since Palin wants to get us all killed

I doubt it frankly.

We have just about the most oppressive tax regime on the planet. If they don't steal your money at source, they get it by stealth, speed cameras, officials with CCTV cameras attached to their clothing, 17.5% sales tax and gasoline costs about $10 a gallon. Everything is twice the cost here.

I earn the equivalent of nearly $60,000 in the UK and I am POOR. I have no credit cards and no unsecured debts to service. By the time I have paid my mortgage, my taxes, paid my bills, I have about $600 a month to live on. It's not much when everything here is so damned expensive.

Wow!!!! I knew things were bad... but OMG!

I can't stand Lewis Hamilton (Brits will get it) but, I now understand why he's moving to Switzerland- which sounds like a damn fine place right about now.

Good luck with all BTW.

You don't sound like a brit at all. I don't think you are. Too American sounding. I call bs.

Anyway it's not horeshit. It's a fact. Medford is a fucking armpit and the people I met were annoying and had bad attitudes. They never smiled. They were never pleasant. Oregon has a lot of poor people. It's a depressed state. Even worse than California. A lot of big money in Ca. still.

Maybe astoria is nicer. I've heared a few good things about it.

I like Astoria a lot.

It is not corporate at all. All the businesses are owned by local people. The only corporates in town are the gas stations, a few fast food joints and Safeway. It's how America should be. There is a very strong sense of community. People help eachother out.

I found the people in Oregon extremely friendly and surprisingly well informed. There is a lot of support for Ron paul in Oregon and Washington.

If I had a choice between living in Oregon and California, I'd choose Oregon thanks.

And despite your protestations that I am some kind of imposter pretending to be English, I must assure you once again that I am a citizen of the UKSSR, (the United Kingdom of Soviet Socialist Reptiles). I am a good obedient debt slave (cos I have no choice)

People move there for the rocky and magnificent Oregon coast, the Willamette Valley with its Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, the meteorite-formed Clear Lake, Gold Beach and its salmon runs, I-5 and Roseville, Ashland and it's Shakespeare, the memory of Steve Prefontaine, Mt. Hood, the Klamath River, the Columbria River with its fish and grape vines, and the Sahara-like sand dunes at Honeyman State Park. And their 60's hippies looking to flee the petty constructs of the burbs.

California is rampant with annoying people with bad attitudes, in my opinion.

So I hope you continue to have "FUN" in the the rat holes of Orange County, San Bernardino, Hollywood, Fresno, or Hayward while you are ripping on the inhabitants of Oregon.

That explains it. I see where your values and priorities are.

LoL Well I think that the only true optimism comes from realism. And people are nicer as well as realistic in ca.

All the things you said, my dad does. Fishing and boring crap like that. Oregon has colder weather too. Did I mention that the people their are ugly and have no fashion sense? I'm only joking with you a bit mattsa. =)

When I was a kid, me and my family drove to Oregon from Texas once. It was a pretty grueling journey. On the way there, I lost my mother to measels, my father to dysentary, and my brother to small pox. Then the car was lost while trying to cross some water. :(

Hey, we don't have many wonderful women over here and would like to have them for ourselves. So next time you get married, I hope there isn't a next time but just in case, please choose a Great Britain lady. :D

If you can set me up with a wonderful Great Britain lady we can call it even. :D

I lived in Washington state and they don't like Californians either, I don't think its jealousy though... alot of Californians have been moving to the PNW and they just use them as a scapegoat.

It is odd though, most other parts of the country don't have a hatred like that against a certain area, especially a state's people. Beyond the typical stereotypes though which are just used as jokes, not really 'hatred'.

Original Post, congratulations and thanks for the words of encouragement. Ron Paul is an enigma; extremely smart, has a strong principled ideology, truly genuine, absolutely honest and just an all round nice guy. Very rare qualities in a politician indeed.

Actually I have comtemplated about moving back to my European roots in Ireland. It seems that with the no vote on the Lisbon Treaty the Irish are and always have proved they have the cajones to say We are Ireland an no one will ever take that from us!
