View Full Version : Is Bob Barr just stupid or trying to lose?

I have never decided to change candidates as fast as I did Barr. Did he take lessons on how to lose votes from the democrats?

Just a couple days ago I would have called the question trolling.

Idunno the answer anymore.

I think Bob Barr was a plant to try and damage the movement. A similar thing was attempted on the Constitution Party ticket with Alan Keyes.

Me too. I WAS seriously going to vote Barr. I was telling everyone. Now the guy shows how incompetent he is.

It's certainly been incredibly disappointing, either way.

Bob Barr needs to take an extra early retirement. Between his atroucious record in office and recent political hijinx, the man's career is royally finished. Trust me on this one.

His actions are consistent with trying to impede the movement.

so if he is a plant... to take away from the L vote, so they dont get 5% I should still go vote for him. hmmm

Trying to lose.

and sort of stupid(although that's harsh) for choosing his path throughout his political career

I'm not sure if Barr is just braindead or if his ego is so huge he's willing to torpedo his own campaign. It has to be one or the other.

This is very possible. Especially considering that David Nolan (founder of the LP) just said that "one big problem with the Barr campaign is that its top people are not libertarians" (source: http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/022823.html).

Sounds pretty suspicious to me.

I mean seriously. If he truly thought the Ron Paul movement was just a cult of personality someone trying to WIN would play that angle not announce it and lose a ton of votes.

That was exactly what I was thinking. Although I really don't like him and don't think he's working in the best interest of the Movement, or the LP, I'll probably vote for him in the election to help insure the Party's ballot access in the next election cycle. Seeing as the LP is a helluva lot bigger than the Constitution Party, I think it may be in our best interest to support it.

P.S.
Bob Barr is a douche-bag. How he got the nomination is beyond my understanding. My guess is the Ron Paul Campaign probably attracted too many true-believers from the LP and allowed the Neocon plant to take root.

The Trotskyites took over the Republican Party which was a threat to the Marxists in the Democratic Party, they could very well try and take over 3rd parties they deem as a threat.

I agree with all these posts in this thread. What they don't get is that we're one up on them... all of this has just taught us some very valuable lessons, which just makes our movement that much stronger. Onward we go.

then he offers paul the vp slot after paul as publicly stated he would not run in this election other than a republican well 99.9% that he wouldnt run 3ed party. he was trying to save face. i dont agree with everything he says but if Nader will stand by the 4 Points of the We Agree document/agenda. I wil support and back him in this election.

Barr is meant to be the "spoiler".

The establishment got worried about Ron Paul's press conference, because what he proposes has the possibilitiy of leveling the playing field quite a bit. It would be a hugs to say that the majority of Americans voted for non-republicrats.

It would of been very powerful if Bob would of showed up, so his handlers didn't allow it. Instead, they tried to create more division and steal thunder by not having him show which created buzz and then having doing his own press conference later. Drama and everything!!

I agree.

Great thread, great observations about Barr. He is a puppet and now we know for sure.

Everyone should have trusted their instincts on Barr. Instead they thought if they went a little mainstream and compromised, it would help.

This is the classic British-US concept of the counter-gang for the purpose of imperialism. When you want to destroy a country that is achieving national independence and economic development, you create a popular movement that appears to be the same movement as the genuine one, and you gradually move it in another direction, causing a split and hence preventing unanimity. This means you are a sitting duck for imperialism.

The Barr campaign is a counter-gang designed to wreck and embarrass Ron Paul's movement.

Perhaps Barr became disillusioned when the RP supporters didn't jump on his bandwagon. Maybe it finally took it's toll on him and he had sort of a melt down. I just would have had so much more respect for him if he had showed some solidarity. He would have got a nice bump from RP supporters yesterday and still had over two months to herd more Paul cats.

There have been many interesting lessons in politics during this election cycle. The RP campaign introduced some new factors into the mix.

Even if you really like Barr this had to be the stupidest thing he could possibly have done. How could he not realize this would cause fighting and get people angry at him? And then after he didn't show up he should have just kept his mouth shut but instead he kept making it worse by making anti Ron Paul statements. His advisers have to be the dumbest people in the world. I'll still vote for him because I'm from CA and Baldwin isn't on the ballot anyway. And I know no 3rd party will win this time so voting in this election is voting for the 3rd party you like the most and want to have a chance next time. The LP seems best to me. I would not consider the Green Party or Nader. They are better than Democrats but are still too socialist for me.

Bob Barr is simply a neocon that infiltrated the LP.
