Well, well, well, what did both candidates stress in tonight's candidate forum? This service crap! And the networks are eating it up. MSNBC says that what the highlight of tonight's forum, and that the candidates had similar views.

This is the text of the Thirteenth Article of Amendment to the Constitution of these United States of America.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Not saying that i wouldn't love to go fight in a war, lol, but illegal nevertheless.

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Edward Kennedy is introducing a major new national service bill aimed at recruiting 175,000 Americans of all ages to tackle national problems such as health care, education, energy and the environment.

It is Kennedy's first major piece of legislation since being diagnosed with a malignant brain turmor in May. The 76-year-old senator has been working from his Hyannis Port, Mass. ,home on the "Serve America Act" with Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, a longtime friend.

Details of the legislation will be presented Friday at an event in New York City. Kennedy's niece, Caroline Kennedy, and Hatch are expected to attend. Aides said the Massachusetts senator did not plan to be at the event.

Refusing to go will be a crime and the punishment of that crime will be the involuntary servitude as outlined in the 13th -- national service.

the DLC has long proposed tying student loans and public college admission to national service. this is probably that type of bill. the rich will not bitch about it as they will go to Harvard and Yale, and the middle class gets screwed again.
Its the only way they could get 250 thousand people/sheeple to sign up. I expect the bill text will be at congress.gov tomorrow.

No, they want us all to join the Peace Corps or some BS thing.

They also want us all to join unions:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Employee_Free_Choice_Act - note that it would strip "right to work" states of having that law, therefore giving the unions (fine upstandind law abiding entities that they are) the right to demand that all workers belong to a union.

What a freaking scam.

Well, here's our chance for some major civil disobedience if it passes.

no chance at all for civil disobedience. they will just say no service no loan for college. or national service is worth extra points for admission.

Though forcing people is wrong and completely illegal, I would volunteer for some kind of NON MILITARY national service if it would get me through the next 2 years of college.

I'm having serious trouble overcoming a financial wall stopping me from finishing my bachelors atm =(

maybe initially it would pay for college, but state colleges were tuition free until the 50s and 60s.

its just a way to sucker people into this socialist/fascist nonsense

National Service? I suppose that if we disagree with this, then we don't care about others or our country, right? I can just see the arguments now...

LOL! Thank GOD we're too old for this!

Just remember that Michelle warned us all that hubby would not tolerate us to remain asleep--that we wouldn't be able to drive like we do now, keep our thermostats at whatever degree we like, nor eat whatever we want--some such nonsense. She laid it all out months ago.

Just wait until these armed little pricks start showing up at your door for your monthly interview.
