Perspective on Ron Paul's New Direction
Posted September 11th, 2008 by Michael Nystrom

I was absolutely exhilarated by Ron Paul's press conference and announcement yesterday. Dr. Paul is a visionary, a leader who continues to push the envelope of perception and understanding for the benefit of the rest of us trapped inside the matrix. For those of you who were left confused and disappointed by yesterday's announcement please consider the following perspective.

Ron Paul has been, and still is way ahead of us in his thinking. He is a visionary who looks at the big (huge) picture. Remember that he's long been onto the ideas and trends (e.g. police state creep, interventionist foreign policy, gold, the Fed, and the solutions offered by freedom and personal liberty) that many of us are only now picking up on. Dr. Paul sniffed all of this out 35 years ago or more! In fact, he is the one who introduced many of us to these ideas in the first place. From the beginning, he has been willing to step forward and speak publicly about what appeared to be crazy talk, long before anyone knew or cared about the truth. To walk that lonely road for so long requires a tremendous amount of courage, a quality that Ron Paul clearly has no shortage of.

Think about what happened yesterday in that context. He's ahead of the curve once again. What he did yesterday - to openly challenge, not just both parties, but his own party - took a tremendous amount of courage. Dr. Paul has said it many times: He doesn't want to control the world, or the economy, or your life. It logically extends that he does not want to control your vote, either. The last thing he would want is a nation of robots, even if they were Ron Paul robots! What he wants is for you to be free. If all Americans are free, America will be free.

"The truth is that our two-party system offers no real choice. The real goal of the campaign is to distract people from considering the real issues," he said. We may all know this and talk about it amongst ourselves, but only in the way that Mark Twain pointed out that people talk about the weather: Everyone talks about it, but no one does anything about it!

Well, Ron Paul is doing something. By holding a joint press conference with Baldwin, McKinney and Nader, Ron Paul is not endorsing their ideas. To be sure, they have a very specific list of points on which they are in complete agreement. What Ron Paul is endorsing and championing above all is the freedom of real choice. Ron Paul has been talking about freedom this whole campaign, and now he is putting his words into action. Freedom isn't a slogan. As a concept and an idea it is meaningless. At some point we have to step forward and put it into action.

What Dr. Paul is asking for should really be a modest request in a free society: An honest debate in which people are free to listen to all opposing views, and then are free to make up their own minds.

Pretending that a true difference exists between the two major candidates is a charade of great proportion….The truth is that our two-party system offers no real choice. The real goal of the campaign is to distract people from considering the real issues.

The idea that we cannot have a real debate in a so-called 'free society' should make people question how free our society is. You have to remember, most of the people of this country are still fast asleep! What I hear Ron Paul saying, and what I agree with 100%, is that we have to send a clear and strong message to both parties that we do and will not support their actions. By voting for a spectrum of third party candidates we send a clear message to the major parties that says, "You are irrelevant!"

We cannot do that by infiltrating the party, but then going along with what they say and do! Look at how easily the MA and NV delegations caved in and sold out. What we can do is make a statement by starving the GOP of its membership base, starving it of donations, and starving it of votes. Ignore them. Don't try to disrupt them. Do what Ron Paul did when he was snubbed by the RNC. Go throw your own party! Surround yourself with like-minded people. Do what you believe in. Have fun and others will join you. Welcome all comers. Before long, the freedom movement will be growing again by leaps and bounds.

It will take time to turn the country around, and no doubt one of the two jokers - McCain or Obama - will win the current race. With all the electronic voting machines installed across the country, it may even be preordained. So why waste your time? There is barely a wit's worth of difference between the two, anyway. Check out the Carroll Quiqley quote that Dr. Paul read at his press conference yesterday:

The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy.

Carroll Quigley - Author of Tragedy & Hope

This is what we're stuck with today. Don't waste your energy thinking you're going to try to change it by throwing the rascals out. You're only getting a different rascal right back in. Ignore it, and begin to build something new with good, likeminded people, something that will stand ready to serve America when the inevitable collapse comes.

After his announcement, Ron Paul and Ralph Nader sat down on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. Blitzer, focusing only on his preconceived ideas, and apparently not hearing a thing that either of them said during the interview, called them the "ultimate odd couple" at the end of it all.

"Let the American people decide," was Nader's retort.

Pretty good article.

Except the end right here.. All I saw was Nader pandering to Paul's supporters(and who can blame him).. Perhaps Wolf was just commenting that excluding the few bits they seemed to agree upon, there is still a huge difference b/w their ideologies.

Nader might be one of our options as a protest vote, but must I remind you that hes certainly not close to being the best option.

Excellent. I also thought the press conference was "historic" and "unprecendented" just as promised.
