....."Presidential nominees should instead pick running mates that appeal to large sections of country and fill the gaps in their own experience. Sarah Palin could appeal to women, Westerners, young people, rural Americans, pro-lifers, and gun rights advocates among others. Combined, those groups hold far more clout than even the largest states."

I would love it if she were Ron's VP. Besides all the obvious reasons, let's say RP wins... how pissed will the "progressives" be if the first female VP is a Republican. Then let's say she runs for prez when Ron Paul's term is up and she wins. Double whammy... the first female president is a Republican.

I still say we need Sanford for the SC primary bump.

Even if Dr Paul doesn't come out and say it, he should be courting Sanford heavily.

Palin, for this election, is my SecState pick.

I want Paul/Sanford '08/'12 and Sanford/Palin '16/'20 and then Palin/??? '24/'28

Meh, I could go either way. I think Palin has more to offer overall than just some SC bump. Keep in mind, Sanford could be mentioned as far as Paul's Chief of Staff or somethin.

It sounds like Fred Barnes already sunk his claws into her. I hope she can resist the darkside of the force.

Well, like I've said repeatedly, our biggest problem right now is getting our foot in the door. Once we're in, we're gold. But to get in, we need some strong primary performances. And SC is one of the first primary states.

Thus, Palin will necessarily have to wait.

Sorry. :\

Hmm, can't explain why, but I feel as if I can almost glimpse a "Paul/Palin 08" sign in my mind.

Paul - Gravel 08!

It just seems so obvious to me. 3 quick reasons:

1. It would shatter the Left-Right illusion in modern politics
2. Gravel shares the disgust we all feel towards where America is going.
3. Guarenteed media attention.

Problems:

Well he does have some polar opposite beliefs from Ron Paul, like a world government empowered through the U.N.....

Seriously libertarians should just gather up all their attractive-looking people and back them to run for office. Looks are an asset that shouldn't be ignored...

Palin could be secretary of state, but, then again, Ron Paul could be secretary of state. He could also be secretary of treasury.

Besides the differences in stance. Gravel has absolutely NO support. Seriously.
Contributions last quarter:
Contributions
Individual $175,180
PAC $50
Party $0
Candidate $53,516
Transfers-In $0
Disbursements $197,604
Cash On Hand $31,141

And I would be surprised if he raised much more this quarter.
And his forums are bare. http://www.gravel2008.us/forum
They go days between posts. He doesn't have the support on the internet or real life. The DNC has successfully completely marginalized him. You may like him cuz he is a cranky old man, but he would only bring negatives to the campaign.

Because all the potential supporter for him are supporting Ron Paul. Theoretically, if Ron Paul wasn't even in this race, I think I would be on MikeGravelForums.com :D

Well, she's super good looking. That's for sure. And there's unfortunately millions of braindead Americans that would vote for her based solely on her looks. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing her on the news everyday.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I like Gravel the man alot. I think he's honest and has integrity. His stance on issues are just way too socialistic. But I'd take him over any of the Democrats. And I love him in the debates. He's the only one without a script up there.

Two thoughts:

1. In a general election, Hillary will get a huge percentage of the female vote, much of it solely because she is female. Having a female running mate would split that percentage up significantly, especially a softer, more attractive and more likable, woman than Hillary.

2. Why not announce such a thing now? Wouldn't that generate TONS of publicity for the campaign, perhaps enough intrigue for the media to start including him in the first tier of candidates?

In 1984, Palin was a beauty queen, when she was Miss Wasilla.
She eats moose burgers and rides snowmachines.
Palin was the point guard for the Wasilla High School Warriors when they won the state small school basketball championship in 1982. #22
She admits that, when marijuana was legal in the state, she used it; however, she didn't like it.
After she became governor, the nationally read and irreverent political blog, Wonkette, began covering Palin, often focusing on her physical attractiveness.

yep, he wants to take over the world from the governors seat while fighting against the Real ID and bloated government and voting with Paul in Congress in his early years.

____________(fill in the blank, I can't think of anything right now, but im sure you guys will)I like Gravel, but that wouldn't work. He's largely unknown, and a lot of people who do know about him are turned off by his cynical, maverick attitude. If you combine his participation in gay rights activism with his having confessed to being a womanizer while in congress with Ron Paul's newsletter phantom, and the media would tear these two apart. As much as it pains me to say this, Gravel is on his way towards being little more than a minor footnote in American history.

Paul - Kucinich would be a much better ticket.
