Wouldn't the next logical step be for Paul to leave the party? Would he still be able to retain the Congressional seat?

What doesn't make sense? Which part? He encouraged people to vote third party, yet belongs one of the evil two.

He ran for congress on the republican ticket in the primaries, if he switched would be automatically be disqualified? What about after the elections in November?

Now how would that be fruitful when we are trying to gain support in all the parties ie following the Constitution. RP happens to be our voice coming from the Republican party, albeit a lone voice. :(

And look what has happened as a result. New rules to undermine anything we may have accomplished.

RP simply said if you are not satisfied with the current two candidates, there are other choices. He is not saying the Republican party's ideals are bad -- candidates simply don't follow the ideals.

And what rule says you HAVE to support your party nominee?

Well he could go independent and retain his seat. He'd almost definitely lose his committee assignments though. He serves on the House Financial Services Committee, the International Relations committee, and the Joint Economic Committee. It not only allows him to scrutinize government involvement in these areas, it provides him a powerful soapbox for the message (think RP grilling Bernake). So even if the C4L wasn't about taking back the GOP, it would be a bad idea for him to leave the party.

Well that makes sense. Thank you. I didn't know how all that worked.
