I think I'll like college.

English Teacher:

For the whole semester our english class will discuss censorship and such things. Yesterday in class we got into groups and read different articles: One about the National ID and one about "under god" in the pledge.

She told the students after we read and discussed what we read to our groups and class that having the national id will take whatever freedoms we have left away. The government will know everything about you, where you travel, etc. She even talked about the RFID chips that could be implanted into the American people in the future. I was like, Rock On!

She also talked about how the Patriot Act was taking away our freedoms also, but only in passing. And how when she went to school "under god" wasn't in the pledge and she isn't any less of an American because of it. She believes that it violates the 1st amendment and endorses monotheistic religion indoctrinated into kids. (at least, that's what the article she told us to read said).

I think I will like her and her class, now I just have to find out if she's a Dennis Kucinich (who will likely vote for Obama) or a Ron Paul.

My Theater Teacher:

My teacher in theater was talking about the Vietnam war. He told us how they took a generation of men in his small town (of 5,000 apparently) to the war and how they came back wounded or didn't come back at all. He talked about how we don't hear about how many people are wounded in Iraq, nor how many non-American soldiers died too (apparently an additional 4,000+ according to him).

He is also on the FBI List! During Vietnam he and his brother ran an underground railroad for those young men seeking refuge in Canada after being drafted or feared being drafted. I thought that was pretty badass.

I think college seems less leftish than I presumed it would be here in SoCAL. I was thinking about starting a public form and using these teachers. My English one talking about the ills of anti-civil liberty bills, and my theater teacher about his experience during the Vietnam war.

but ya... i talk a lot. anyone else like their professors?

Sounds like you're in for a fun time, mate!

I had a teacher like that when I was in college. She let me discuss politically incorrect/esoteric topics as I wished! :D I also had a teacher who practically damned me for defending pornography as a "free speach" issue. That was a rather amusing little fight! ;)

Remember not to waste TOO much time on the college girls...they've still got some maturing to do, for the most part. If you get lucky in that department...well, that's just gravy! :):D;)
