Rarely is a goal worth achieving easily won. The Constitution itself struggled from its conception. Even the great minds who penned it encountered disagreement, and some men walked away from that gathering in disgust. Its ratification was a hard and in some cases long win. Two states, North Carolina and Rhode Island, did not even ratify it until after George Washington was President of the 11 states that had already done so.
I think we owe it to our children to fight as hard for them as our forefathers did for us. We know that this country is capable of great things. So I'll trudge onward, though the road may be long and sometimes lonely, and be of good cheer to think that my predecessors may benefit from my hard work. I hope the rest of you will do the same.

I'll be in the fight the rest of my life if needed. Why should I sell myself out?
