WASHINGTON – Libertarian-leaning congressman Ron Paul is urging voters to reject John McCain and Barack Obama and support one of the third-party candidates for president.

Paul, a Republican who abandoned his White House bid earlier this year, is gathering some of the candidates, independent Ralph Nader among them, on Wednesday to make his plea.

"The strongest message can be sent by rejecting the two party system," Paul said in prepared remarks obtained by AP. "This can be accomplished by voting for one of the non-establishment, principled candidates."

Well, I think it is very important that he makes this announcement...
In louisiana, we are doing the inverse, the 3rd party slate will be slowly getting behind the paul/goldwater, jr ticket.
The LALP will be the first after Barr misses the deadline(not much excitement for barr)
The LACP will be second, as one of their guys is behind the paul/goldwater,jr ticket (as I am the LALP guy behind the Paul/Goldwater,Jr ticket)
Then the reform guys because they missed the deadline...
by that point all that's left are socialist on the third party left-overs...
By that point, I think we will release our statement to the press for the unity ticket in Louisiana.

I've been feeling like both the r's and d's behavior as party's is absolutely unacceptable. Between the myrads of instances of republican rule breaking and fraud, and the Dems thinking they're going to tell Michigan and Florida to run their vote, and disenfranchising their own people to prove their knotheadedness. (almost sounds like a union)
Point is, that for some time now I've been pretty much planning on voting anything BUT R&D, it's nice to see Ron Paul come out the same way.
To those of you in the(minority of the) republican party trying to do the right thing and inject some integrity into that vacuum, I see no reason you can't do the same.

Dr. Paul stated today on Fox, that in order to run 3rd party one would have to have a billion dollars, like Ross Perot.

We need an overnight moneybomb to raise a billion...

we are still working within the GOP, but in order to remove the neocons in charge, we must defeat them at every turn, in every election with a true constitutional ticket.
After a string of defeats, the sheep that follow them for power will lose confidence in them and will be looking for new shepards... and that is where we step in...

That is the power of the third party.

If parties that already have electors on the state ballot gave ron paul their electors, he could be on every ballot within the hour.

I won't be all that happy if he simply endorses the idea of voting third party. Ron Paul should have run third party HIMSELF. He got more than a million votes in the primaries, which would have alone broken the record of votes for say, the libertarian party in a presidential race. However, he was in a severe disadvantage in the primaries, from what I saw, because his base simply wasn't Republicans. Some were, but from all the many rallies and campaign events I saw, most were already third party members or simply people who were not involved in politics before. I believe this 1 Million+ amount of votes he got in the primaries would have multiplied if he ran third party. I know many many people here in california who liked Ron Paul but simply didn't vote for him in the primaries because they didn't bother to switch parties in this closed primary. It's hard getting everybody to swtich parties -- and not to mention a few people I know who went to vote for Ron Paul but couldn't because they weren't listed as Republican on the roll sheets probably because they weren't updated since they switched parties to vote for Ron Paul! It was just a mess and a doubly difficult to try to get people to vote for RP AND switch parties AND put up with all the technicalities. I believe Ron Paul never reached his potential as a Republican candidate.

unfortunately this'll be spun as Dr. Paul being a "sore loser" and trying to get back at the GOP.

But if the main 2 don't show up, people will see they don't care about helping Veterans.

Politics has been like a game. Bush was more of a sore loser when he asked old Brother Jeb in Florida to help him steal the 2000 election. Now it's time to trick the neocons at their own game, except we will do it legally and with intelligence.
