This photo was first published by the Reuters as an image of a "dead woman being carried by the Georgian soldiers from the town of Gori". But this "dead woman", incredibly, is clutching the nurse's arm.

http://byzantinesacredart.com/blog/images/world/fooling-the-world1.gif

an exhibiting rage and grief happens to sit in the exact same place where the earlier picture was taken: the same pile of garbage is behind his back and scraps of metal from the picture of a "dead" woman being 'rescued' are lying around like in the earlier photo -- plus some, additional, unidentified scraps of metal. What are these supposed to represent?

This has happened many times before and will happen many times again.
Remember when Saddam ordered the babies in the incubators to be thrown on the cold floor in the first Gulf War? That was used to stir up hatred of the enemy then shortly after proven to be a propaganda move, but everyone still believes the lie and forgets the retraction. I forget the PR firm they hired back then, Carlisle maybe?, that did all these stunts.
You are being lied to every day in everything thing you read and see from the media.

Great find, i for one never believed the original story, Georgia is clearly a puppet state controlled by Dick & Bush, I give credit to Russia and i hope they stand up to NATO, EU & BUSH, they could have taken over Georgia and no one in the world could have done anything about it. I dare Bush to get in the ring with Putin :p

This should go viral.

It was featured in antiwar.com . ;)

Well, it may go viral but I think it's already in digg .

Gah. I hadn't seen these, thanks for posting. It's amazing that our media will just work with the Georgians to produce outright lies. I know they're corrupted and worse than bad, but things like this still manage to amaze me. I guess you just can't put anything past them now.

They look so fake when everything is pointed out. Pretty scary.

I think the second picture set was just taken with different lenses, which gives a weird perspective. Either that or they moved the curb in the front of the picture too, because in both pics the body is right in front of a curb.

I think it's just the glare from the sun distorting the perception of distance and time. :) Shit, the Serbian images were also staged?!

Notice the pants on the but, the riped shirt and the leaf with fruit under that rip as well as the leafage around him. As a professional photographer myself i don't believe the body was moved, it is take from a different angle with a high power lens, notice the curb on the back of the body on both shots. Hard to say about this one but the first pics wore clearly acted ;)

anyone for some "wag the dog"

amazing catch, when I was observing those pictures, only a day after Russia went into Georgia they did strike me as odd, I couldn't quite put a finger on it, and this certainly sheds light on why I felt that way.

The first set was posted on a blog by a sharp eyed pundit on the 12th of August....

Here is the third one...

http://s42.radikal.ru/i098/0808/9f/e3298ab733a6.jpg

They were posted by Reuters seperately and passed off ans being seperate.

There was a boatload more going on too. My you weren't off watching the olympics while a War was on were you???

Its okay, so was someone else:

The second set there is just two different lenses of the same scene. First is Zoom second is wide angle. Woman is still posing though.

I'd love to see a professional photographer recreate those inconsistencies. It looks staged to me and the proportions and positioning don't look right to be real.

Yeah sorry those are fakes for sure. I love too how this photogropher caught the mother just at the moment her arms and eyes were blasting off at the sky. Stuff like this really makes me hate and distrust the media, but its good to know I have Ron Paul people bringing this to my attention. If it wern't for this website, I would still think that Russia was the major aggressor in the conflict.

I'm not saying they might not be, but that body is clearly next to the curb on the back of the body in both shots, the top pic is from far away on the left side up higher, the bottom is up close from a more straight view with not much zoom. I'm just pointing out the body to space ratio. OK, so I'm a professional amateur :D but still an eye as a photographer learns different things in real life trial and error. :o

Yes, the Georgians are in the wrong for starting the war and attacking S. Ossetia, but the Russians are also wrong for bombing Georgia and killing innocent civilians.

The AP photographers didn't need to stage photos when there was human suffering aplenty. People really did die, and believe it or not, unidentified scraps of metal are the result of cars and buildings being blown to smithereens. If you need proof, watch this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG5UZy7n8xs) and this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6cPKb-2AeA), both showing the aftermath of the bombing of Gori. The photographers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDKVgG78VnI) were at the right place, at the right time, doing what they were commissioned to do: take pictures of actual events.

Good post. Important also is the idea that one should trust none of what they hear through the media, and half of what they see.

You're about to get some new openings, fool! I get paid so much that I use FRNs to wipe my ass and then send it firstclass to Paultards who are stupid enough to have their mailing address listed on the internet with "Thank you for all your hard work!" scribbled on the envelope.

Oh - and I'm in the $2300 club.... It all went to Obama!

Change, bros!

Wow this why i dont trust any news source.

There could be an explanation maybe that old couple was rolling their son down the street with those broom sticks?.

On wired they said it could be a diffrent camera lense but how would it position everything differently?

EDIT* updated

here is partial sets of the photographs in question. Wired (http://blog.wired.com/defense/2008/09/fake-georgia-pi.html) had two links pointing to two sets I just rearranged the digits to find more. still (missing about 200 photos) but It makes them seem more real. The sets are obviously still missing some key shots. like how the guy went from face down to face up, how did the other guy get moved about 20 feet, I don't really have time to look them over or count them.

also the guy takes his shirt off in the first photo of this set

I think the pics are genuine. 70 percent positive anyway.

Photoshop CS3 has a tool for measuring real distance from a photo. Using the poles, we could determine a scale. I might do it later unless someone else can get to it first. This would tell us if the body was moved or not.

I'm an armature photog too (and pro marketer) and it looks staged and moved to me.

EDIT: I've been playing with the measuring tool and it's only a little tricky. i'll study a little and it should defiantly be possible to prove if the body was moved or not.
