You know just when I thought the Bush Administration could not do anything stupider - they go and anchor the USS Whitney (a rust bucket of crap with an advanced communications package) 1km off the coast of Poti. In case you didn't know it - basically 1 month ago Poti was seized by RUSSIAN marines, and they are still there (under the guise of 'peacekeepers.')

Think carefully about this for a second - this is a game of brinkmanship, it means Russia has to do something in RETALIATION. Eventually the 'diplomatic' niceties are going to come to an end, and OPEN WAR COULD EASILY START...

A US navy flagship began delivering aid to Georgia on Friday at a port close to Russian military positions, as Moscow angrily questioned why Washington chose a warship as transport.

The USS Mount Whitney, the flagship of the US Sixth Fleet, arrived in the Black Sea port of Poti, the first time a US naval vessel has docked in the city since the conflict with Russia began.

The ship was the last of three vessels sent by the United States to deliver blankets, hygiene kits, baby food and infant care supplies to Georgia after its five-day war with Russia. here (http://www.military.com/news/article/September-2008/aid-delivery-to-georgia-angers-russia.html?col=1186032310810)

Russia’s leaders have accused previous US warships that docked at the port of Batumi, to the south, of delivering weapons to re-arm the smashed Georgian military — charges that Washington denied.

While Russia again questioned the deployment of what it described as “the number one ship of its type in the US Navy” in the Black Sea, it said that it planned no military action in response. (THANK GOD) The Russian Army has kept a small component of soldiers in Poti, where Georgian officials accuse them of looting port authority buildings. here (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article4682003.ece)

RUSSIA ALREADY RESPONDED MILITARILY FOLKS - BY RAIDING ISRAELI BACKED AIRFIELDS IN GEORGIA SEIZING ADVANCED DRONES, THAT WILL BE DISMANTLED - REVERSE ENGINEERED AND SENT TO IRAN....

Michael Savage talked about the Spanish American War and the "sinking" of the Maine in Cuba which led to the Spanish American War.

Savage also blamed the media and yellow journalism for helping to start the war.

Specifically, William Randolf Hearst said "give me some good pictures and I will give you a war."

He is worried one of our ships might get hit.

Sorry the title and the posting does not match, the USS McFaul docked at Batumi close to a week ago, the USS Whitney is the rust bucket piece of crap that they docked over at Poti...

Some people do not realize that even if USS Whitney is their 'command and control' vessel, one only has to look at the USS Liberty - the same type of ship, and one that was highly decorated. In fact the US has had a long history of contiually putting their communication monitoring ships in harms way - look at the vessel they lost inNorth Korea...
