Damn, now you're trying to divide us!

j/k. Might put up a poll.

P.S. Were you too quick for me or vice versa? Nice poll.

CFL, MAY be a violation of copyright infrigment.

Has NE1 looked into this? CFL = Canadian Football League

remember Steroid Wrestling: WWF is now WWE

We don't want to go through all the legal and added expenses of CHANGE

It's only copyright infringement if the average person may mistake one for the other. You'd have to be a moron to see a political ad with "CFL" on it and think "Canandian Football League."

CFL, C4L bugs me to no end and I don't know why.

C4L seems more "cutesy" and non-professional to me.

Well, it is part of brand building that you pick something and be consistent with it.

I've never been a fan of replacing a proper word or abbreviation with anything else.

CFL rolls off the tongue easier and I don't have to move my fingers upward when typing it.

Plus on edit it sounds like "CFR".

You seriously did? I'm thinking about getting some window decals for my van, but we don't drive much anyway so it wouldn't be all that helpful.

Can we add another option please:

• WHY is this poll here?

TER

I think it should renamed after the election "The Liberty Movement".

It's actually trademark law you are referring to, not copyright law. Copyright is about creative works of art and the right to copy, distribute, publicly display/perform etc.

Trademark is about being able to brand or recognize a specific company as it relates to commerce. However you are sort of on the right track about how a problem could arise if people were "to mistake one for another". That is the goal of trademark law to limit confusion of the marketplace.

The issue would be trademark, not copyright. And again, if an average reasonable person confuses CFL with something in the same category of organizations, then yes it could potentially be found in violation of trademark. However I don'r see that has happening.

I prefer C4L because whenever I see CFL I mix it up with CFR.

c4l distinguishes it from cfr. cfl looks too much like cfr.

I pretty much have to do C4L because CFL = Central Florida around here ;)

So C4L has grown on me and I think it brands much better than CFL does too. C4L is just harder to say outloud.

The Campaign For Liberty has gone with C4L so might as well just stick with it.

CFL is so bland, gets lost in the DC-ish abyss of alphabet soup lobbies and bureaus, looks like CFR. C4L is distinctive, leaps out of a sentence. And Ron Paul likes it.

CFL for a couple of reasons. I think it appears more professional, and it's also similar to CFR, which I find ironic.

C4L = 146 (roman / arabic numeral mashup)
CFL = Just Another TLA

Voted for C4L

Which abbreviation do you prefer? Vote and discuss.

I chose "CFL" because it obviously stands for the initials of the Campaign for Liberty. "C4L" is an inappropriate abbreviation, to me, because the "4" seems descriptive of the "L," as in signifying there's four "Ls" in the name, like "Campaign for Life, Love, Liberty, & Longevity" or something like that.
