This was told to me by someone firsthand at the CFL afterparty. I believe it to be true...

After the rally as we were all walking to the club from the Target Center some CFL people saw some members of Congress across the street. One of them went up and started talking to them and asked him if he voted for FISA.

The Congressman didn't know what FISA was and it had to be explained to him!
 :(

Apparently the congressman said "FISA, What's that!?" and then he thought for a moment and said "Oh, is that the AT&T thing?"

Well the CFL guy then asked the congressman "What did your constitutuents think about you voting for that bill"?

And the Congressman replied with "I don't think they cared. I only got 2 or 3 e-mails about it"!!!!

Seriously. Thats a problem.

Congressmen should know what they are voting on...without having to rely on their staff.

I enjoyed hanging out with you at the club the other night. It was fun to chat about things.

Thanks for telling this story to me because it's important that people realize how little many of our politicians truly understand.

My dad told me that Ron was on Glenn Beck awhile back and said that a member of congress came up to him after a monetary policy speech recently and said "you mean we are not on the gold standard anymore?"

You don't even have to make stuff up, these guys are really something. No wonder people are apathetic about voting. The sad part is they are perfect representatives for the majority of the citizens - I mean this literally.

Hence why Paul does so poorly

Ditto man... had a great time. I hope we have more of these Rallies. I honestly am still pissed off about this congressman though. I can't believe that only a couple of people emailed him about it.

I remember that. You forgot to add that this wasn't any ordinary member of Congress....this was a MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE ON FINANCIAL SERVICES! The member of Congress spoke to Ron about his misunderstanding after Ron Paul questioned the head of the Federal Reserve.

Our Congress is pathetic.

that would be great.

I emailed him. You have to have a Kentucky 5th district address. I found one to use.

Street: Main street (use any street)
City, State, Zip: Somerset, KY 42501 (use these)

I will add I picked the topic of "government reform" and let him know the kind of reform we need is to get idiots like him out (in so many words)

Since the all FISA thing first came up last year, I was sending all most daily e-mail's to my Congressman and Senators about it. Telling them to vote agianst it and the immunity for the telecoms. Some of the e-mails and later on faxes were just short and to the point.

"I'm writing to ask you to vote against any Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) legislation that includes retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies."

Senator Crapo voted for it. He basically use 9 11 as his excuse.
