Today at the Republican National Convention, as the Ron Paul Delegates were taking a picture in front of the model White House inside the Convention Center, they were surrounded by Secret Service which proceeded to search the bags of all the delegates. They took any and everything related to Ron Paul including signs, buttons, videos, slim jims, cards, even books.

"There are also reports of delegates being approached by security and told that they will be summarily thrown out if they leave their assigned chair."

“We just had a group shot of all the RP delegates and alternates, the secret service came and started searching everyone and took anything RP related. We got it on video though…”

Looking forward to that YouTube!

Now I really hope they all do what Badger Paul suggested - all stand up at the same time and walk out during McLame's speech.

Dude. Somebody must get in a lot of trouble whenever Ron Paul's name starts getting out there. He then directs his goons accordingly. I wonder who it is?

It's McCain's goons. They need to get up at the same time and walk out. They won't need to spend taxpayer dollars on the escort... leave that to McCain after the convention :) :)

It is so sad I met a few of the National Delegates and they were great people and should not be treated like this

All Paul dlegates definately need to stand and walk out in protest of this. They need to make alot of noise while doing so. They need to chant something in unison like Ron Paul the real GOP, or we will change the GOP! If they do this we will definately get media coverage. I would love to see it on prime time morning news tomorrow.

To quote Rambo "It's either live for something or die for nothing." This isn't a call for arms, but rather, a call for the delegates to [peacefully] stand up and say what they want in the face of immense duress from the neoconservatives who've betrayed our country.

One of them should have asked those who were doing the confiscating, "When and where, after the convention, may we pick up our personal belongings?" They were not harmful to anyone, especially while concealed in a purse!

They were told they would not get them back and when one of them tried to follow them and ask questions he was accused of causing a disturbance and security was told to follow him.

He posted an update:

Updated @ 9:32 PM - EST

McCain delegates at large have approached Ron Paul delegates throughout the day in attempts to seperate them from their all important delegate credentials. Adam Weigold, Delegate from Minnesota, reported he has been approached at least five times by other Republican delegates supporting McCain-Palin who asked him to borrow his pass to go the bathroom. Nathan Hanson (MN) delegate and attorney suspects this is an organized effort by the GOP establishment.

The Ron Paul delegation will be staying at the Xcel Center until the end of the nights events around 11:00 PM - EST.

Are you serious? Or are you trying to incite a riot? Because this is very very troubling.

Do the RP delegates have on-site legal counsel available?

I believe that Gurudas said it best:

“All these people say there are powerful groups threatening our way of life. Some sources identify the bankers and corporate elite as the source of our problems, while others feel the national security state is the threat. The power of Wall Street is now obvious to many. So much is happening today that it is increasingly clear a police state is no longer some distant event to fear. The American people must awaken and join together to restore constitutional government and diminish the power of the large corporations and their agent, the federal government, so that we can again be a free people.”

Seriously how is a slim jim a threat to McCain when he has already won. And why is the secret service confiscating stuff that isn't a physical danger to him.

This is facist nazi brown shirt SS Bull****

I am telling you people the way McCain & the GOP are running this campaign forshadows how they will treat Americans that disagree with him, once in power, with contempt and disdain.

I don't know how anybody in their right mind can vote for him this time, such massive disrespect for the democratic process.

Not only is that crappy just on principle its also 100% illegal. Law enforcement can't just search whatever they want and seize whatever they want. Convention or not, the 4th Amendment still applies.

FYI: This is a good reason to actually vote Obama. If Obama wins, RP supporters will not be investigated. If McCain wins, expect retaliation.

I think we need to approach Obama and ask for some concessions..

:

Lack of organization and political saavyness. You should have all coordinated standing up together and yelling your Ron Paul votes. It would be hard to cover everyone getting thrown out together for peacefully assembling and letting their votes be known.

In America, votes used to be taken in a gentlemanly manner. It is clear only loud rude manners will get them counted now. Look at how the parliment in Britian operates. That is how we're going to have to behave to have our democracy again. It may seem uncouth and not American, but it works.

Is this a reliable news source? Anyone have any confirmation?

Just spoke to a couple of my friends who are delegates from Virginia; they didn't mention secret service but they did say things were being confiscated from RP people but not mcwar's people and that they were being watched constantly. They said the whole thing was a sham coronation. No dissent of any kind allowed.

They are extremely upset at how they were treated.

BTW, these are a couple of very harmless, soft-spoken, mainstream-type women. It's probably a good thing I wasn't there; I don't do well with this kind of harassment. I'd have certainly been hauled off in cuffs.
