Just tuned in and some guy was outlining what parts of Roberts Rules they would not entertain unless it had been previously cleared by the RNC executive committee.
ie: TOTAL SHAM!

Proof of delegates from states must be in *writing*.
Acclamation may not be allowed.
I wish I'd been taping to transcribe what Duncan just said:(
Also, on DP, delegates on site were mentioning only *45 minutes* for this meeting.
To see how many McCain delegates are there vs. RP delegates?
Voice votes?

CSPAN is probably the lamest site with video feeds. At least that's the only one that does not work for me on Linux. Hey, CSPAN, ever heard of FLASH ?!

So is the role call today, or what?
And will Ron Paul even be able to be nominated?
Sally08
09-01-2008, 02:07 PM
CSPAN - Tucker Carlson, Huffington, ... panel right now (St. Paul)
I cannot/will not listen to this:(
Regarding the role call, everything I've read from many sources has been that GOP platform and nomination will be voted on in the next couple of hours and *election* business will be totally over!

how will they do that when they don't have enough delegates to even officially vote in a McCain nomination? I heard the same thing - something about 47 delegates? That's a far cry from the amount they claimed McCain had to secure the nomination. So much lying, cheating and stealing going on within the GOP...
If Ron Paul has the amount of delegates needed at his convention, will his convention count as the official convention, or will he have to pull an Independent run with Ventura? We can't afford (financially, morally or spiritually) four more years of downward spiral... we need action now, on every level possible, especially federal -
it was on for like 5 seconds and now we see the politico spot for the 3rd time today...

I'm not entirely sure, but from the way it sounded, McCain & Palin will be nominated officially tonight.

I could never understood why people got so excited about those political theatres. And I'm not talking about current RNC only, but in general. Those pompous talks always make me laugh, because they are 99% fiction. Do people really believe in this BS? Amazing.

Everything I've read/posted on RPFs in the last 24 hours indicates that this 2-3 hours is *it* for all election-related votes.
If Cindy McClain is scheduled for 6 p.m. (ET?), that's 20 minutes from now.
Will she be accepting for her husband?:(

Yep, you could hear a few people say "Nay" for the platform but he talked right over all of them. Funny, that's exactly what Nancy Pelosi did at the DNC.

Do they realize that if the RNC does finish their election business in the next 30 minutes, *no one* will be watching after that?

I thought everything published indicated this was *it*.
They must have had too many RP delegates:rolleyes:
What does the permanent delegate count mean if half are missing for the reconvene?
Is this really how we elect our President?
I want President Idol!

The chair will notify all delegates as to when they will reconvene.

Are those voting phone numbers or *donating* numbers by candidate ("others")?
LibertyInJeopardy
09-01-2008, 04:01 PM
I went to a local republican committee meeting and noticed something about those voice votes... Especially when it's on something requiring 2/3 like we had at the local meeting... Even if it sounds close the chair will say the vote went whatever way they want unless there is significant, loud objection and call for another vote.

Neither, it's how c-span selects callers.

great c-span caller just now - saying that the low morale in the convention was not due to the hurricane, etc., but due to lack of enthusiasm for McCain, and being spun by the conventioneers using the hurricane to their advantage.
Would like to hear from some of the delegates with their takes.

yeah, that was a great call. The gentleman was right on point.
Seems like I only heard one or two calls pro-McCain, and there was also one Ron Paul, one Baldwin, and a few Obama.

Guess they don't want to gamble on the "relief efforts" being unnecessary/inadequate replacement for previously scheduled convention activities-
