Well, not worded exactly that way, but they talked a bit about whether the USA was ready for a black president, insinuating that he was the perfect candidate and that the only reason he's not been more successful than he's been is because Americans are "racists". And you wonder why Europeans have the image of Americans that they have, with this mass media.

I wish that immigration part was true. :( Sadly the last few decades Sweden has recieved roughly a million immigrants from outside Europe, which has caused crime to skyrocket. It is however quite important for the political establishment here to portray Americans as dumb and backwards, so that people won't be impressed by American liberty, the ideas in the constitution and such. If people here were educated in American political thinking and history, perhaps they wouldn't accept being pushed around the way they do now. Stereotypes are a good way of making sure people see things your way. And the lack of respect mass media here show towards Americans is a bit amazing.

Europeans could not believe that we would vote for George W. Bush in both of his elections. And the Egyptians had slaves long before the Vikings did. Slavery goes back pretty as far back as recorded history.

I think the race issue will be pretty much balanced out- those who will vote for or against him based on it.

Very few people know about Ayers here, though I assume the media people do. Sweden's current prime minister is Fredrik Reinfeldt, a centrist. The current government is one of the few non-socialdemocrat ones that have been able to get into power.

Well that's kind of a given seeing as the racists in the Rebublican voting block would vote for a Republican regardless. Ir's the democratic racists that Obama needs to woo but I have no idea how he could possible due that.

The way Swedish TV talks about Americans almost seems bigotted.. Just now, commenting on the DNC, a reporter said "say what you want about Americans, but they sure know how to pull off a show like this." They still continue in the same theme, portraying Obama as America's saviour.
