“I’ve lost faith in the state of American democracy,” he said as protestors milled from booth to booth hawking posters, shirts and signs that espouse the anti-war message. “As poorly educated as most kids are in America, even the average high school student can grasp that our democracy is not living up to its own rhetoric.”

The hilaaaarious part of his statements is that he seems to not understand that America was founded as a Republic. He says 'our democracy' yet states most kids in America are poorly educated. He needs a better edumacation. Well, actually we have become a socialist/fascist plutocracy, but you get what I am saying.

yeah, the "democracy" terming you can use at any time, in any argument over American poicy, to discredit anything you don't like. odds are good that anyone, whether it be the average joe, or a statesman, is going to make that same mistake. primarily because the term itself is a propoganda thing, sortof a cartoon character, to make the average citizen feel more powerful than they are.

democracy is of course direct government, where each individual votes on every issue in a popular vote, which is absolutely not a form of government that exists in the modern world.

the very popularity of the term shows proof that someone, somewhere along the lines(maybe the american history association....) chose to pervert the term intentionally.

I got lots and lots of pictures from this. You can wait until I get to a computer Monday or give me an email address and I'll transmit them now, so someone can post them in the thread.

I sure hope no one will harass GOP establishment about Ron Paul not coming in first or second, like they tried in Iowa.
