Please forgive this "yet another Sara Evans post"

News of this brings up a question that I've been pondering for over a year:

Will billing Sara Evans and other country singers bring non-Ron paul people together to hear the message of liberty and freedom?

Will outsiders come to hear this?

I hope so. I hope that Ron Paul supporters stay home to make room if there isn't enough room for the others. Those others need the message more than we do.

I listen to (and like) country music, but I completely dislike the fascism which is prevalent (at least around here in Pennsylvania) with country music fans.

We're all "Proud to be an American" but we have no idea what an American really is. We wave our flags and vote against those Evil Democrats. We'll never buy a foreign car, but we sure will park our American car at Wal-mart because they wave those American flags and they always have the cheapest prices. We're always talking about our "freedom" but we have no idea what the freedom is that were responsible for defending as voters. We don't even know what freedoms other countries have. We say that we "support our troops" yet we don't really know why they're in Iraq - We don't really care either, as long as our boys "Git 'er done" and "fight to protect our freedom".

Well, I think that I'm starting to rant.......I guess that I'd better stop.

Just remember (before you complain) that the Red-Neck country music lover at the convention just might be the heart and soul of the Neo-Con movement. They need to be awakened.

The red-neck country music lover is the most powerful voting block in the United States, control them and you are guaranteed the Southern States. No President has been elected for a long time without carrying at least 5 Southern States. They are never less than 10% of the voting population in any state, with the possible exception of New England.

LOL! I am from Georgia and I feel the same way.

Ditto here, and born & raised in rural North Carolina.

Except for the "old-school" country artists (Cash, Williams Sr., etc.), the whole genre reeks of jingoistic, barely literate lyrics, and ghastly overproduction to rival the most banal modern pop and teenybopper music.

The bad music itself is a tragedy, but what makes it even sadder is that it must be equated so erroneously with a genre that used to be a true, organic art form. Alas, like most good music, its creators lost sight of it as art when they could instead see it as "product."

Not that this is always destined to happen with something good, and certainly good art can and should be profitable, but there is often too much of an overlap between music and industry. The execs and marketers have more of a hand in the actual creative process now than ever, so major-label music has ceased to be "creator-driven."

Putting investors and marketers in charge of making music makes no more sense than putting a musician in charge of running an investment firm or ad agency. Neither one can or should fill the role more aptly filled by the other, so why persist in this fool's errand?

I agree, those that have no interest in keeping up-to-date on politics, or thinking about the details, need to be woken up. I hope this is part of the process, but we must remember it is a process. I wasn't woken up from my sense of nationalism, unchangeable support of interventionism, and fear of terror until I made the conscious decision to do a google search for Ron Paul. As I look back now, I'd have to say his exchange with Rudy woke me up.

It's been a long, fulfilling, yet frustrating journey, but it is not over. I realize that most people out there aren't ready to hear the message. That's fine, it just gives us more time to make it more palpable for them.

The issue is that every person has a 'talking point'. It is unique to each person. There will be some who see Sara Evans performing at the R4R and think, "well that woman was a leftist after all". There are some who will tune in just to see her physically (politically incorrect, I know, but it is reality). And yes, there are many that won't even know she performed at the rally. The left-right, and, objectifying paradigms that operate in our culture are much more than the Campaign for Liberty can worry about, control, or handle. It is going to take time, and some will never be in the place where they can agree with the message. At least they'll still be there to provide some 'checks and balances' once we take over the office of the presidency, some day.

Well, I think that many here may be missing a couple of points that I missed when I first got this announcement in my email this morning.

I had no clue who this chick was until I asked my wife and when I did ask here she went nuts!!! Turns out that she loves this singer and just the mention of her name gave the Campaign For Liberty Movement tons of credibility to my wife and many people that she works with.

My wife is now begging me to come up with the cash to go to this when before she had the attitude that she might like to go but it really did not matter much either way. So I would say that all in all much good will come from this announcement...

Oh, also I just thought how nice it is to see that maybe this very popular artist is down with our movement and can influence many more to see what is going on. I have recently learned that this lady is huge where country music is concerned...

I'm curious, and tempted to post an RPF-member age poll to take a measurement of how our ages break down in numbers here, but being a relative noob to this particular forum its very likely its already been done and I'm just not aware of it. Is there such a recent poll-thread here, if so and you know where it is can you link it?

Go for it. We lost many people since the last one was done. Just make sure it isn't a public-poll where everyone can see how each person voted.
