Never heard of her. You sure this is the big news?
Edit:
Just saw the email. You're right.
"I am happy to announce that Country Music Superstar Sara Evans will perform as a special treat for Rally for the Republic attendees. Sara Evans, a multi-platinum recording artist and 2006 Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year, will bring her remarkable talents to an already stellar cast of performers and speakers for this kick off of my Campaign for Liberty."
Go read about her. I'm obviously not too up on country music, but she IS quite popular and has had a lot of hits. I'm listening/watching one of her hits now and it's good. :)
Good goin' C4L!!

I LOVE Sara's music.
She's fantastic!
Seeing all you guys bitching and saying how much you HATE country music reminded me of this Hank Jr song....
Lyrics to If You Don't Like Hank Williams :
I like Charlie Daniels
and I love big John Cash.
And I think Waylon "Wall-Tosser" Jennings is a table thumping smash.
Playing with Marshall Tucker Band was as good as smoking grass.
But anyone that don't like Hank Williams,
They can kiss our ass.
Cause I think what they done was well worth doin',
and they're doin' it the best that they can.
Oh, but you're the only one that you are screwin'
When you put down what you don't understand.
Now I love all them Allman Brothers, Merle Haggard and George Jones.
Shotgun Willie Nelson, and them rockin' Rolling Stones.
Everything the Eagles do.
I'm in love with Linda Rondstadt.
But anyone that don't like Hank Williams,
They can kiss our ass.
Cause I think what they done was well worth doin',
and they're doin' it the best that they can.
Oh, but you're the only one that you are screwin'
When you put down what you don't understand.
Oh, I ain't sayin' that he was the first, or the last.
But if you don't like Hank Williams,
You can kiss our ass.

But as it is, I fear I'd be happiest if she sang backwards. That way I could get my girl back, get my kids back, get my truck back, get all the beer and tequila out of my system, bring my dog back to life and watch the rain go back up in the sky.

two polls, both list 25 year olds with 40 year olds? I consider anybody under 30 to be young so these polls were flawed from the outset.
Furthermore, RPF does not accurately represent this movement, so using this forum to gauge movement demographics is silly
Lastly, as someone that has organized many groups and activities in the last year, I’m going with my own anecdotal evidence.

I like Sara, I think its a great draw.
Hopefully Don and crew has been planning on getting a radio station tour with their star.
It would have to be in contract to get her to do that, but the stations would have her on to talk about playing at the rally.
At the least, have her make a radio commercial for it.
You guys kill me. They say that if you like sausage, you don't want to watch it being made. Well, you guys have gotten a glimpse of the sausage making.
We worked for weeks with AEG, the largest talent management firm in the country to get this done. We had 6 artists that we took negotiations with before we signed to Sara. For those of you who don't know country, she is a huge star and a great talent. The process is tedious, frustrating and, sometimes, almost Strangelovian in its weirdness. Thanks for your patience.
We do have a couple more announcements coming up, so don't think this was our last hoorah.
As for marketing, in addition to the several hundred thousand emails that went out, there is also an AP wire story, a press release, an outreach to local country stations and we're even having some talent do live promos.

I think you guys are doing an awesome job! The rally is going to be epic and it will be thanks to all the organizers and volunteers who put it all together.

To the person who thought that this would be a family event:
Please see:
Early life & the rise to fame
Sara Lynn Evans was born in Boonville, Missouri in 1971, and is of English and Irish descent. She was raised on a farm, and was the eldest girl of seven children. Music was a part of her life at an early age; by five she was singing every weekend in her family's band. At age eight, she was struck by an automobile in front of the family home, and both her legs suffered multiple fractures. Recuperating for months in a wheelchair, she continued singing to help pay her medical bills. When she was 16, she began performing at a nightclub near Columbia, Missouri, a gig that lasted two years.
Evans moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1991 to aspiring to become a Country music artist, where she met fellow musican, Craig Schelske. She then left Nashville with Schelske 1992, where they moved to Orgeon. After the couple married in 1993, Evans returned to Nashville in 1995, where Evans began recording demos [1]. Nashville songwriter Harlan Howard was impressed by Evans' demo of his song "Tiger by the Tail". Howard decided to help Evans' music career, which eventually led to a signed contract with the RCA Nashville[2].
In 1997, Evans released her first album under RCA, Three Chords and the Truth. Critics praised the album for returning to traditional country and included it in many of their year's "top 10" lists. The album included a cover version of older Country song, Patsy Cline's "Imagine That", which orginally reached No. 21 for Cline on the Country charts in 1962. However, the album did not catch on with country radio at the time, and none of the three singles made the top 40. It would be another year before Evans gained full popularity. In 1998 Evans released her second album, No Place That Far. Critics slammed her on choosing a more pop-country sound. Her first single, "Cryin' Game", hardly made a ripple on the charts, peaking outside Country's Top 40. However, it was her next single, "No Place That Far", a duet with Vince Gill, that brought Evans massive success, reaching No. 1 on the Country charts, as well reaching the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40, Evans' first major hit. Because of the success the album gained, Evans' album was certifed "Gold" by the RIAA that year.

I'm still astonished at some of the youth in this movement fully expect to be catered to. Liberty? Freedom? Are those just catch phrases for your Revolution or are those ideals you can actually put into practice. When someone claims that the Revolution is about the youth, they have no idea what it's all about not to mention they exposed their closed mind.
Well said, especially since a 72-year old man opened their eyes. All talk and no walk. I wonder if people ever considered that maybe some of the delegates or alternate delegates would rather be at the biggest party in town than the biggest funeral wake in town. Think about it.

Trust me on this, Sara Evans is a big get. This place will sell out in NO TIME when this news hits St Paul. Those of you that are pissed and have no idea who she is, need to open your eyes and look outside your little world. This is going to be a fantastic event, and I wish I could be there.

The Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce intends to take a step back when it hosts its fourth annual Chili Cookoff in 2009.
Next year's event is set for June 13 at the county's Dream Horse Park in Logan Township.
The first two festivals were held at the 4-H fairgrounds in Harrison Township and the 2008 fest was staged at Gloucester County College in Deptford Township with country music star Sara Evans as a headliner.
Evans helped to attract some 35,000 to the college more than double the first year's attendance.
"We are very proud we brought in Sara Evans," said chamber President Rhone Carr. Her concert is believed to have attracted the largest audience ever for a performance in Gloucester County.

You're doing great Don, don't let the complainers get you down. I think half the people who still post on this forum only do so to complain, and those ones probably weren't planning on going to the Rally anyway. Of the other half that are still active here, a lot of them are happy with a country star, and the rest will be happy when the Rally sells out.
My biggest hope is that Sara Evans will get some of the RNC delegates that aren't Ron Paul supporters to fill up the seats that have been offered to them. I'd guess a lot of them are country fans, and as far as I know there aren't any big country concerts going on during the RNC.

Yeah, it's an interesting question. Sometimes the people who stand up for what's right--like the Dixie Chicks and like Ron Paul--remain ostracized after they're proven right and sometimes they're embraced for their wisdom. I think it has to do with how adamant (and rude) they were at the time, and with how often they do or don't say, "I told you so."

As a musician, I was playing/singing with a disco band down in south florida...and they stopped calling me for gigs. The men were a few years older than me, in their mid 50's..but finally the leader told me, "we hired a girl that's 32, she brings down the age average of the band". <eyeroll> tones
Politics + Country Music + Drunk Ron Paul Republicans = A Kick Ass Time

I'm not too much into country music. I was raised on classic rock, but I gotta tell ya... one of the best concerts that I ever went to was one of Willie Nelson's annual Fourth of July picnics in Austin, TX. It was back in 85 and I'm still recovering.
There was Willie, Waylon, Johnny Cash and June Carter, Asleep at the Wheel, Kris Kristofferson, Neil Young and a few others too.
It poured buckets of rain. It was like a red neck woodstock and we had a freakin' blast.
Ahh, the days before country music turned into cheesy pop.

Gee I didn't think I'd ever get to the end of this thread. Look at it this way..Sean Hannity LOVES Sarah Evans, he always plays her songs on his show and she is the artist he uses when he goes on the road...so take pleasure that this will smack him right upside the head that she is performing at Ron Paul's alternate ralley. I think it is hilarious. I probably woulnd't be happy with any of the musical entertainment because I'm a classical/jazz fan..R&B. I had to laugh about Sean Hannity's face when he finds out lolol...another snowball. tones
What song is that? I thought he starts his show with a Martina McBride song.
Sara performed at the 2004 Republican Convention. This will be more than just a slap to Hannity. :D

I find this thread amusing. Personally, I want to hear Dion DiMucci, http://www.diondimucci.com/ ! Does he support Ron Paul, though? ;)

Oh. My desperate desire for something more than a niche entertainer caused me to read the date as the 2nd.

I used to have a pretty gold and black outfit, but I'm not sure where it is. Maybe I can dig it out and wear it for ya. ;)
Just for the record, this picture was taken at a restaurant in Jordan. It was a big place with lots of shops, and one of them was a photographer who took this picture. It was just like those shops here that do the old fashioned cowboy pictures. I wasn't sure what to think about the fake tatoo on my chin, but it was kind of funny.
My ex-husband is sitting next to me. I cropped him out to post here, but I brought this picture back home and told everyone it was my wedding photo. They freaked. It was really funny.

We need some rock, punk, blues etc. We have enough country. Heck I am all for Arlo Guthrie and Jimmie Vaughn. But there has to be more. Ugh!
Sara Evans, country star. Talk about a buzzkill. :(

Cause, ya know, RATM isn't a niche market. Surely a great sound for family entertainment.

Well, I did get married while I was there, but not wearing that!! I met my husband in college, and we dated for a long time before we got married and after we got divorced. (I don't react well to the whole state certificate thing. I gave it up for good.) Anyway, he was more modern than I am, but my friends and family were sure I would be locked away in some room and forced to be his slave for all eternity. In reality, my father-in-law was shoving cigarettes in my mouth in the hallway while the sheik was deciding whether or not to issue our marriage certificate. It was hilarious. We'd already been turned down in one court because the guy asked me if I was a virgin. It shocked me, and I answered, "No, I'm American." Apparently, that was the wrong answer. The whole thing was quite a cultural experience.
