I know doesnt the title sound so bad... break those memes...

anyway...\

Here is a very cool way for small teams to get an enormous amount of name recollection for Ron Paul. Its called Projection Graffiti or Projection Bombing. What it is:

high powered projector (2500 lumen or better)
portable powersource or in vehicle inverter ( AC )
Laptop

and some creative thinking..

important:
one large building that is in high traffic area on friday or saturday night

:D

Now after taking that all in... think of small teams of 2 or 3 in 2 or 3 major cities all displaying the same message on a friday night.

for instance:
Ron Paul 2008
rEVOLution

next week a different message:
vOte pEace
Ron Paul 2008

etc etc...

a massive project like this would be somewhat expensive to start from scratch (1500) but to keep it going would be very cheap considering! IMAGINE the media coverage.. not to mention the thousands of citizens seeing a POSITIVE BEAUTIFUL message during a night on the town. :)

what do you think?

any input would be greatly appreciated... ive donated 200 to the campaign so far.. that is about a fifth of what would be needed to launch this project.

it is comparable to buying a billboard but with a little more pizazz... ;)

There would probably be a terror scare and the whole city would be shut down!

Lest we forget! :p

Just kidding...I think.

Anyway, probably might need property owner permissions, let's consult our bevy of lawyers!

I doubt there would be a terror scare unless you wrap up a generator, laptop, and projector in a black crate with wires and an exhaust pipe sticking out.

I can imagine the 911 call, "There is this black crate just sitting by itself it has wires poking out and a pipe that is releasing gases... I think it might be a bomb.. OMG!!! It now has a bright light coming out of it, we're doomed!" 911 operator: "I'll send a bomb squad, PRONTO!"

lol, I crack myself up sometimes.

But yeah. Those are some wicked videos.. I didn't know that was possible over that far of a distance. amazing.

As far as it being illegal I don't think so. The worst I think they could do would tell you to leave. I mean you are physically not doing anything to the building. What would they charge you with light pollution? lol.. but then again, I'm not a lawyer.

Oh, they can stick you with a charge. They do that crap all the time because they CAN.

I think this is an AWESOME idea. I don't see why it would be 1500 bucks though. Did you think about rentals? for example: http://www.lcdprojectorrentals.com/

I would really suggest people look into doing this. This kind of thing is unusual and would be GREAT publicity. :)

I love the idea!
I live in the sticks so maybe on the side of a barn for all the farmers to see..lol really I live on a major route and the traffic count is high..2000 cars/trucks a day!

THANK YOU! I didnt even think about that! This project is looking even more doable. I live outside of Houston but, work all around it. I drive quite a bit during the week and have been scoping out some good spots.

There are many abandoned 1 story buildings off of 45 north to do this. There is a very tall building in pasadena. Perfect. all brick and empty.

I am going to check out that site... this will most definately make the project a reality.

I think if our message is interlaced with other positive memes than cops may be curious but they wouldnt have anything to get angry about. know what mean...

something like this:
NO aggresive language.
DONT use certain words that offend even if the message is not offensive..

Like the word WAR or DEATH etc... even used in a good message someone could be offended by the words and call on ya.

NOW>....

Heres something like what I am going to do... with different RP messages inbetween... :D

Support your local police and fire department! )5sec

Im going to make it all into a powerpoint and let it play... if a lot of us do this we could share powerpoints :)

I really think that idea has merit and would really get his name out there!

example:
2 night presentation
50000 see it

5000 visit RP site

50 donate $25

thats over $1000 a weekend plus 50000+ people saw his name associated with patriotic messages. :)

Hey, that's clever using positive messages to prevent police "blowback". :D

*bump

Has anyone actually pursued this?
Does any one have pictures?
The code is Open source... If there is any one in Florida who has a laptop a power inverter, and a projector...or even one part.... I've been scoping out building along I-75 between Gainesville and Orlando. There are some pretty great spots to do this, and I would like to set this up So I can target all of the Thanksgiving Traffic.

Sorry, I didn't see this before I posted a similar thread today. I think it's a great idea, but I don't own a projector.
