This story makes me sick to my stomach!!!

I guess Wisconsin feels like they are "protecting" this young man by preventing him from doing what he loves and stealing his livelihood from him!!!

I wish we could talk T-man and his folks into moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. I'd like to see a bunch of NH bureaucrats just try to rush the stage surrounded by rock & roll-loving civil disobedience activists! :D

Don't all states bar kids from bars?

The kid obviously watched the most recent Rocky movie.

Correctamundo!

I used to do stand-up in bars when I was 14, and I never ran into any trouble. That's why this story makes me so mad. There's absolutely no reason why this kid should have to wait another 13 years to make money and spread happiness with his craft. God gave him his talents, not the state! Therefore, it's criminal that the state should presume itself morally justified in taking away said gift.

The income tax is no less then 25x more offensive then this story.

The income tax is repugnant, but this is a striking example of how government, rather than defeating discrimination, actually helps to reinforce it through programs ostensibly meant to "protect" people from discrimination. The government is so good at this by now that it's practically a high art form.

Just watch and see what our public education is capable of--take a diamond and turn it into a lump of coal.

What would be cool is if he could schedule weekend gigs in neighboring states, then publicize the performances in the Madison (Wisconsin state capitol ) newspapers. Rub it in the faces of the bureaucrats.

The kid is cool. I laughed when the presenter said "guitar is almost bigger than he is".

Not many kids his age have any discernible talents.

If the kid wants to play music and he isn't forced to do so when he doesn't want to, then why not?
(this is because I do not think contracts can (or should be) be enforceable in the ordinary sense of the word,
with parties so young)

Just as long as a legal guardian is present with him at these adult venues, I don't see why he can't do it.

Also when I listened to him respond to one on one questions, he seemed genuinely happy about what he is doing.

The core matter then becomes to make sure he isn't exploited financially, and that is where I think a responsible and experienced music agent would come in.

His dad seemed like a reasonable and even handed man when interviewed.

This is a happy kid: "I like to put smiles on people's faces when they are having a bad day".

This says as much about his parents as himself.

Socialists feel they can parent better than parents themselves.
