A year after the Mises Institute was founded it hosted a debate on the Gold Standard between Congressman Ron Paul and Charles Partee, member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

Awesome find! This is specifically the issue at hand. It has not changed in the 25 years since this debate took place. They are competing economic theories that both have their opportunities and dangers. The difference is Ron Paul's explanation on how it relates to our freedoms. We should accept his argument because of the moral issue in the debate, not because of a calculated yield or of who benefits from one system or the other. Conspirators and evil plans are not necessary to make RP correct in his assertions and if anything allow them to undermine the soundness of his argument.
