Does this really come to any surprise to anyone?

I extracted all the files and ran each through virustotal. Very interesting results. No need to do surveilance behind the scenes. Just send out a toolbar that contains spyware.

Multiple vendors don't detect the same files but several files have hits from multiple vendors. I'll post info below. I think we should all quickly notify all the major news people and digg this: http://digg.com/politics/GOP_distributes_toolbar_with_spyware

If you want to accuse anyone, here's the right address: http://freecause.com/
That's where the toolbar is coming from and where it's being downloaded from - so it's not the GOP work, but a private company who seems to offer tools to build toolbars online.
Running some virus detection programs that find anything "suspicious" proves nothing.

And BTW - it's really hard to believe they would offer a spyware for download from their official site.

I'm utterly speechless.
