What is the 'libertarian' position on veterans aid?

Why should taxpayers cover the military benefits if you do not grant others benefits? If I serve in the war, does that mean I can just live off the system for the rest of my life?

I need answers!!

Veterans benefits should only be those which were in effect at the time of enlistment.

Fact is that most veterans benefits are so administered.

The concept here, however, is that the benefits were a condition of the servicemember's enlistment contract.

You don't just volunteer for service. You sign a contract with the gov't to join.

As such, the gov't has a contractual obligation to honor the benefits. If it is agreeable to both parties to change the benefits, in whatever way, then so be it.

Think of the benefits as an incentives package, since that is entirely what it is.
