Dish Chairman and Chief Executive Charles Ergen thinks the regulatory and competitive environment may be more receptive for a Dish-DirecTV deal now, the newspaper said.

Very interesting; they tried this back in 2001, but it was totally slammed by to government. Let's hope they don't slam it, again, a second time, and let it go through (just like the Sirius+XM merger).
Either way, what's funny about this is that when Dish posted their first major loss, I made the comment (half jokingly) that "Hey-maybe Dish can try to merge with DirecTV again"...so all in all, this is quite ironic.
