If anyone wonders why you should never adopt socialism or the Swedish model, this should be a really good reason:

"We will never surrender"

Eskiltuna. The family was sent to a family home that lacked permits and social services presented false accusations in various investigations. The maternal parents today provide a perfect family home for their oldest grandchild - but for his little brother, they're incompetent.

A couple with disabilities became parents of a boy roughly five years ago. Social services conducted an investigation and stated that the parents managed the child well, yet when their second son was born, the problems started. The social services then felt the family needed help and they were placed in a family home in Tyresö.
- It was shocking to be moved to a family home. We had managed all right earlier. The family we stayed at wasn't good at all and we didn't like it there, the mom says.

Horrible
Since the two families didn't get along, they were moved to a family home in Rimbo - a home that lacked a permit from the regional court. The social services in Eskiltuna hadn't looked that up. The home appeared horrible and it's now been closed down.
- We were there since we were going to be trained into becoming parents, yet there was no staff to educate us. It wasn't often that we were allowed to leave the home, and there were no friends for the children there, the mom says.
During the first visit of the maternal parents to the family home, they decided to bring the oldest son home. They felt it was depressing for him to stay there. The rest of the family was kept at the home for roughly five months.
After that, the youngest son was placed in a family home in Malmköping. No investigation into having the maternal parents as family home was conducted.
During this time, the social services decided that even the oldest son was to be put in care, partly because his teeth were afflicted by caries. But according to a testimonial from a dentist, the boy has never had any cavities.
- We assumed the services had looked that up, so we were very surprised, the grandfather said. We've always brought him to the dentist and he's never recieved any complaints. After these accusations, we went to the dentist to examine our grandchild's teeth again and there wasn't any trace of caries. We have no idea where they got that from.

Tears in eyes
When it was clear that the parents had lost custody of both their children, the mother had a nervous breakdown. Now she needs pills and therapy.
- I don't know what to do, the mother says with tears in her eyes. I'm only allowed to visit my youngest son once a week. When I ask the mother in the family if I can hold him, she usually refuses, saying it's her son now.

Declared unfit
Following this, the social services were reported to the regional court since they had refused to investigate the maternal parents as a family home. Then an investigation was finally made and the maternal parents were approved as a family home for the oldest son. They asked to be a family home for the youngest son as well and finally an investigation was made concerning that as well. Yet this time, the home of the maternal parents was declared unfit, partly because of there being mould in the house. The maternal parents then contacted an authorized company that concluded there wasn't any trace of mould in the house, something they display a certificate on.
- It was straight out lies, the grandfather says. It felt like they've decided in advance that we were unfit as family home. After that, the social services also wanted to move the oldest boy away from the maternal parents, motivating it with among other things that "the parents along with the maternal parents had started a struggle to get even the youngest son put with his brother with the maternal parents."
- Of course you fight for your children and grandchildren in need, the grandfather says. It would instead be strange if we didn't.

Allowed to stay
Once again the maternal parents were investigated, and a week or two ago, it was confirmed that the oldest son can stay with them. Yet his little brother is still placed in the family home in Malmköping. Hence for the oldest son their home is excellent, yet for the youngest son it's unfit.
- There was no flaw about us in the investigation concerning the oldest boy, so it's quite strange that we're unfi as a family home for his little brother, the grandfather says. We will never surrender. The little boy is a part of the family. Now they hope the politicians will be responsible and check the social services.
- This just shouldn't happen and we don't want others to have to go through anything like it. The family has chosen to be anonymous in respect of the children.

This was one of the most extreme cases I've heard about, yet they're most definitely not alone here in Sweden, thousands of families are struggling to be reunited, having been split up for no good reason and with little hope of getting to live together again. Sweden has no constitutional court, state servants can't be held responsible for the consequences of their actions, and it's virtually impossible to sue the government for damages.
