About 30 miles east of LA. I felt it in San Diego.

5.8 is just a moderate size earthquake.

No injuries reported, yet.

5.8 is enough to scare you but usually will not result in too many injuries. Unless building codes are ignored.

i am in santa monica, it shook pretty good here for ~45 seconds.

it was fun, nothing serious really - except for our phones stopped working for about an hour (cell too).

my GF works downtown and her building was evacuated for a gas leak following the shake up.

it was funny though, because everyone was like EARTHQUAKE SWEET! and then when it ended you could hear people outside and in other buildings clapping / cheering.

it was my first one, its an interesting feeling having everything around you shake (more like sway in this case).

East LA? That was no earthquake. That was a bunch of illegals passing frijole gas.

The Die Hard Building, the one used in the first movie located in Century City is on giant springs.
