How is this party different from the Constitution Party (http://www.constitutionparty.com/documents/2008CPPlatform.pdf)? In principles, they seem very similar, to me.

Sacramento CA - June 28, 2008

California's American Independent Party, which has a forty-year history in the Golden State, today announced its affiliation nationally with the newly-formed America's Independent Party of Fenton, MI. The Party had previously affiliated on a national basis with the Constitution Party of Lancaster, PA.

The State Central Committee of the American Independent Party voted unanimously in its Friday meeting to make the switch, after which the new 2008 national affiliation was duly filed with the Secretary of State's office in accordance with the requirements of California's Election Code.

State Chairman Edward C. Noonan, on hand in Sacramento for the official filing, stated, "We believe it is time to affiliate with a new party, one that has a will to win. In sixteen years, the Constitution Party has never elected a candidate. America's Independent Party may be the best chance we have of stopping the never-ending advance of socialism.

Friday's move makes the newly-minted America's Independent Party the third largest national political party in the United States based on voter registration.

I was getting excited, until I read they want Keyes as their President.

Not a good start if that is who they want. Try Ron Paul and I am there.

I have a problem with this party and the constitution party. They say they are constitutional, but they are not true constitutional like Ron Paul, they are more of the Christian agenda movement. It's the family values thing. Gays should not get married. I'm a born again christian and definitely think the gay lifestyle is a sin, according to the bible, but it's a christian religious issue not a constitutional issue. Both parties have a platform against it. I say why don't they have a platform against witchcraft or muslims or jews or liars or people who get divorced or teenagers who commit fornication or all people who don't believe christ is there savior or teen pregnancy or women wearing reveling clothes or men in church who ogle the women church members or these same men who go to church on Sunday and watch pornography on Sunday night. Heck, lets' just regulate and legislate every area of peoples lives! Wait, sorry, that's what we already have! Come on church get real, stick to the Constitution. Give us a real party that is truly constitutional like Ron Paul. As christians we must stop trying to regulate morality. Why are both these platforms jumping all over the sin of homosexuality, what about the sins of lieing, unforgiveness, hatred, angry, bitterness (which the church is full)? Is there any sin, more a sin than another?

Truth, two guys marrying or two ladies marrying, really gives me a funk, but I'm not their savior and I'm not their spiritual judge, neither is the church. Why should they be singled out for sin, when the church is full of it? So to all the gay community, I support your right to freewill, God created us all with freewill. I support your right endowed by your creator, the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I think the government should get out of our bedrooms and our relationships and I think the church needs to get off your backs. Jesus' was very explicit, let he who is without sin caste the first stone. He also said ALL HAVE SINNED and fallen short of the glory of God. And nowhere did he say one sin was more serious than the other. Love church, love you neighbors as yourselves, remember that? Remember that love doesn't seek it's own way?

So give us a true party that is truly Constitutional. We want our Constitution back, not another off shoot. Those offshoots are how we got into this mess to begin with.

WHY?! Why do these parties always take the good names?

American Independence Party, Constitution Party. Will someone please start a party with a name and mission that appeals to traditional liberty-seekers?
