View Full Version : Our Troops Won the War in Iraq

Liberals tell us our troops have failed in Iraq and would bring them home in disgrace. Others tell us our troops must stay in Iraq to police their streets and rebuild their schools and mosques; they say it will take the blood of many more American soldiers; they say it will take a generation.
But the question before us in this coming election year is not whether our troops will stay to win the war in Iraq.
No, it is not, because our troops have won the war in Iraq. George W Bush came on my television and stood on that aircraft carrier in front of our men and women in uniform, in front of that banner that proclaimed, Mission Accomplished, and he told me and them and us that it was, and he told us that we and our allies had won, and I know that we did.
I know that we did, because when I go through the great list of what by the blood and courage of our men and women in uniform we have achieved in Iraq, I find no aspect of our victory wanting.
We have tried and hanged Saddam Hussein the great tyrant, we have overturned his regime, we have decimated his Baathist ruling party, and we have dismantled his military apparatus of terror.
We have utterly destroyed the capacity of Iraq to threaten its neighbors, utterly destroyed its capacity to manufacture and use Weapons of Mass Destruction, utterly destroyed its capacity to threaten our shores, and we have made dead certain that on our watch there will be no mushroom cloud.
Through the brave and valiant efforts of our troops, through the shedding of much American blood, the Iraqi people have torn down the vestiges of that despot and the artifices of his rule. And in the light of a new dawn of liberty, now rises above that rubble a democratic government in Iraq, freely and fairly elected by her people. Now there is liberty, and where there is liberty, there is cause for great hope.
The question before us in this coming election year is not whether our troops will stay to win the war in Iraq.
No, the question before us is how much more American blood will we sacrifice to the streets and the rebuilding of Iraq, even while at home our own country is falling apart, and our own liberty veers toward the precipice of a great chasm.
No, my friends, the truth is our troops have won the war in Iraq. And now it's time to bring them home. It's time to stop rebuilding other nations, and start rebuilding our own.
And in this cause, we have reason for great hope. For the courage and steadfast determination of the people of this country and of its men and women in uniform are a continual inspiration and a testament to the power of liberty over all evil, and even as we now set out to put our own house in order, let no one ever doubt that in the league of nations we are and remain that great shining city upon the hill.
Ron Paul. HOPE, for America.

President Bush DID declare the war to be won!
We are now supposed to be over there cleaning up and assisting their country to recover and establish their government. haven't you been reading the news?
There is no war in Iraq, it is over, and has been over since 2003. Mr. Bush said so.

The troops did win the war its the policy makers who failed to install a functional government and win over its people.
Now they are just using them as police until the government gets it shit together.

Hey, I've used the there is no war, didn't Bush declare victory 4 years ago myself.
But I'll be damned if I'll let some FUCKING ****** come on here and whine about liberals not supporting the troops. Thats a criminal lie.
But dircha is too busy massaging Larry Craigs balls with his tonsil to come back and apologize for his INCREDIBLE BULLSHIT.

Great post, dircha!
I've been working on an article which is very much along similar lines. I hope you don't think I've plagiarized you when it comes out.
I don't know what this Cindy Sheehan dude is getting so worked up over. I thought your post was very good.

Dude, these are three things I would n-e-v-e-r tell another human being with any pride.
Why do you hate Ron Paul? He will not win without the support of a majority of the people. Every time somebody on this forum puts down liberals and Cindy Sheehan, another vote is lost. DON"T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?
Ron wants to be president of all the people. He is not going to take the oath and then make a speech about how liberals suck, ha ha ha.
Ron said
"Politics is usually about division. But this campaign is just the opposite. Not only are our volunteers a bunch of happy warriors, but they also practice the virtues of tolerance and peace, just as they want the nation to do.
A reporter in New Hampshire told me this story about Florida: she had seen the same three supporters working every day passing out our literature, and so decided to interview them. She was startled to discover that one was a Republican, one was a Democrat, and one was an Independent. But I wasn't.
Freedom brings us all together. We can all agree on leaving people alone to plan and live their own lives, rather than trying to force them to obey at the point of a gun, as runaway government does. Instead of clawing at each other via the warfare-welfare state, people under liberty can cooperate in a unity of diversity. "
WHY DO YOU UNDERMINE HIS MESSAGE? WHY DO YOU HATE RON PAUL? WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?

Darren,
Back on the meds, please.
Ron Paul would never give Jesse Jackson a reach-around like Sheehan. And she did it with a look of pure bliss on her face.
Jackson/Sharpton/Pelosi/Sheehan-type leftists are a hoot! You proclaim liberty! Justice! But then when you "seize" power, you irretrievably extract every amount of same you can get from every sovereign person you see.

YOU ARE STILL TO COWARDLY TO ANSWER THE QUESTION, WHICH IS:
If you insult over half the electorate how do you think you are helping Ron Paul?

What the hell are you on?
Is labeling yourself a "liberal" so much more important to you than supporting Ron Paul that you would fly off the handle and start spewing obscenities at all and sundry just because of one little sentence that may not even apply to you?
You're talking about people undermining Ron Paul's message, but you're so hung up on that collectivist label that you're trying to start a flame war over it here?
Hell, I consider myself a "conservative", but I'm fully aware that that term means many different things to different people, so you're not going to see me spaz out and start calling everyone childish names whenever anyone criticizes "conservatives". After all, oftentimes their criticisms don't even apply to me.

All he said was, "Liberals tell us our troops have failed in Iraq and would bring them home in disgrace."
Overall, that's my take on it too. Sure it may not apply to all people who self-identify as "liberals", but it seems to be the case. Furthermore, "liberal" and "Democrat" should not necessarily be conflated.

1. It does kind of hurt when people put words in your mouth or assume less than honorable intentions, and sometimes the liberal-bashing gets me down. I myself see right through the bogus war B.S. that both main parties are selling, and I'm pretty liberal myself. This is definitely no longer a war, but an occupation, which most intelligent people on BOTH sides of the aisle can see. It's always a shaky proposition to make broad-based assumumptions of what "liberals want" as if we, or any other political faction, are of monolithic and complete agreement on every issue. However...
2. The English language is only so good at putting across the nuance, care, and contemplation needed to keep from offending everybody at all times. Sometimes, you just have to brush this stuff off and think to yourself "they're not necessarily talking about me." Thin skin and sensitivity is understandable in these times of polarization and ideological confusion, but the fact is, we're all in this thing together at the end of the day, and, by getting too caught up in the rhetoric and in-fighting, we lose sight of what really matters and perhaps even manage to damage our cause even further.
Liberals, conservatives, libertarians, anarcho-syndicalists...WHATEVER you are! This is the Ron Paul Revolution, and the real message, beyond the rhetoric, unites patriots of every stripe far more than all of the labels, slogans, and assumptions ever could.

You are a Democrat, sir, but you do not strike me as a liberal. I don't aim to please any liberals, so you'll have to excuse me if you are one.
A great many sons and daughters of this nation died in Iraq. We might not like how we got in there, but I will tell you this, sir, not one of them died in vain, not one of their deaths was meaningless, and most certainly they did not fail.
I've heard it all, and you know the very type. "They died in vain." "They died fighting for Bush." "They died fighting for oil." "We've lost the War in Iraq." I've heard it on the airwaves. I've heard it in the halls of Congress.
But it's not true. Plain as day, it's not true. And for someone to say those vile things to score political points against the president is truly despicable. It shames and dishonors the blood of our brave fighting men and women who gave their lives in Iraq for the cause of liberty.
We won the war in Iraq. Mission Accomplished. Bring them home.

"Reid: Iraq War Lost, U.S. can't win"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18227928/
You don't have to hear it from me. Take it from Mr. Reid himself.
Mr. Reid says we've lost the war in Iraq. Plain as day, that's not true. It disgraces and dishonors the lives of our fallen soldiers in order to score political points.
Plain as day, he's wrong. It is an unacceptable answer. Our troops won the war in Iraq.
If Mr. Reid is not a liberal in the common, everyday sense of the word, then I'm at a loss.
I don't aim to get anyone riled up; I don't know where you come off, sir. I'm expressing an opinion that I believe a great many Americans share. We are angry when we see folks like Mr. Reid saying our troops have lost the war. And to be honest, I am almost as angry when I see folks who want to keep our troops in harm's way to rebuild their streets over there. That's just not right.
When our troops come home, they will come home having won the war in Iraq. They will come home having liberated the Iraqi people from a vicious tyrant. They will come home having paid for the price of liberty in Iraq with their own blood.
