I wonder if they count the "commemorative tickets." 5k is a lot since only 18k can fit and since this ticket bomb was not pushed at all

Stick around, they'll be updating in about three minutes. It'll probably be close to 10,000.

No, I don't think the total includes commemorative tickets. Frazee on the CFL blog has them as tickets sold for the convention.

Oh, looks like they only have 13k planned for now but will go to more of the stadium... like 19k maybe... if they have to (which they will)

My counter didn't refresh. Sadness.....

You guys are so dang lucky. Wish I could go. I have a prego wife at home that is going to pop in about 10 weeks. No way we can travel. LOL. I'll be there in spirit.

^^ First child BTW. It's a boy. Very exciting. Wife wouldn't let me name him Ronald Paul. We settled for Nathainel James..... <--- kidding though.

What's with the ticket prices?? It says $17.76 but at ticketmaster they say 15.76 but after I bought 8 of them the total was $198.76?? That's $24.84 each. I choose the free shipping by regular mail...

Welcome to the world of ticket master fees.
$2.00 is for the arena fee.
that makes it 17.76 plus the ticket master convenience fee.

The Wonkettes must be coming, I took a quick look at the counter and one of the ticket purchasers is "Tina Foilhat."

How clever! *rolleyes*

How do you call the people, who buy tickets to resell them later at much higher prices (usually at an online auction or at the venue just before the event)? I hope they don't play a big role in this case.

A simple way to get your name to show up on the ticker.
See- with the ticket master check out there is no send back info to enter into the flash database.
That is why they have to enter than number of tickets sold manually. Problem is.. people can make up names to show up on the flash without buying a ticket.

i think the ticket number is correct - it's updated manually
the pledge is just to display your name

CFL staff is entering the number of tickets bought. So I believe it to be a reliable number.

Looks like they are selling the far sides and corners first? Cannot be that many reserved seats, can there?

Those have the best view of the stage. I think the floor is reserved for big CFL donors and other VIPs.

Is there any way to get them other than through Ticketmaster? I sure wish there was.

$53.80 for two tickets that should cost only $31.52? That's nuts. Ticketmaster sucks.

I'm suggesting Standard mail, since it doesn't add any more to the cost of the ticket ($17.76 :D + $5.95).

Standard Mail No additional charge Your tickets will be mailed to your billing address and delivered no later than 48 hours before the event in a plain unmarked white envelope.

I'm guessing the actual ticket sales are less than the reported numbers in that little Flash thingy. I seen things like "Tin Foil Hat" & "Ron Paul is a fool".

The thing is probably frozen on purpose. It'll be updated later with actual numbers that are closer to real ticket sales.

i think they get their numbers from ticketmaster though
the weird names are just people who pledged

Those fakes names (like 'Adolf Hitler' and 'John "Dickweed" McCain') were just pledges. The number on there now (currently: 6,072) is the number of tickets actually bought and paid for and confirmed by TicketMaster.

They're called "scalpers" --

Ticket scalping - to resell (tickets, merchandise, etc.) at higher than the official rates.

The "scalp" is basically the part of a person's head where hair is.

Its really just Ticketmaster- they hit you up with multiple fees. Ticketmaster's actual cost per transaction is probably no more than $3, but they blast you for $12 or more per ticket.

Screw 'em, I was going to buy a ticket online, but I'm just going to wait and buy the ticket the day of the event at the box office and avoid being raped by Ticketmaster.

Yes, it's almost the same in my language. What's funny, the scalper in my language is "konik" which literally means "little horse" (like a toy, pony).
The English word is much more, hmm, descriptive :)
