Found out that I'm going to be one of the Congressional District Leaders going forward, so it looks like I'm going to be going up to Minneapolis!
However, I'm also taking my wife and 4 month old. They will not be attending the Tuesday rally, as I do not expect a 4-month old to be able to last that long without getting very upset.
We will be making the drive from Charlotte, NC to Minneapolis.
I'm trying to find a hotel on a transit line that I could use for Tuesday, or my wife could use for Sunday/Monday when I'll be in training. No offense, camping out is NOT AN OPTION.
How far is the Red Roof Inn in Burnsville from a Bus #444 stop? That route looks like it goes to the Mall Of America, then you can get on the light rail. If the walk is a mile or less and it's safe, I'm there.

NCGOPer_for_Paul, what you (and any others) need to be aware of if you're doing the Sunday/Monday seminars/training is that they are not downtown near the Target Center, but rather in Brooklyn Center 5 or 6 miles to the North-Northwest of Downtown Mpls, and not on the light rail line. I would strongly suggest that those selected for and/or choosing those sessions contact Marianne Stebbins using her e-mail link on the lodging page to see whether she has some hotel space in the immediate vicinity held closer to the vest and not publicly displayed on the lodging list, expressly for those registering for those seminars. State and National leaders selecting such candidates for those sessions should also make that contact and get up to speed on providing those people with the necessary info to keep themselves from booking in a long ways across town when space in the immediate vicinity is very likely being held out strictly for those individuals attending those events.

Good for you!
I am not a congressional district leader, whatever that is, but I will be there too!
Camping out isn't so bad in Minnesota around that time. There should be some pleasantly cool nights for sleeping around Labor Day up there.

There are training sessions going on Sunday and Monday before the rally, these will be for congressional district representatives (one for each CD for your state) and two at large representives for the state (chosen by the C4L coordinator for your state or area)
Just found this out yesterday, things are really hopping and it's hard to keep up with all of the information.
You need to find out who your state coordinator is.
As far as camping, I'm here to tell you the OP will not be camping, nope, not gonna happen! Don't blame him, it's just the way it is.
I'll be across town at the "evil twin" convention, but if I get chosen (possible...) then I'll have to take a cab from the airport to the seminar location on Sunday, as soon as I land. (Unless a kind soul offers me a ride.....) Then there is getting back to the hotel room and then Monday's trip back and forth.....
It's time for cloning.....

If anyone is staying at the Country Inn and Suites, I'd be willing to share a Rental car.
You might want to consider http://momondo.com for rental car or airfare. They gave good deals.

Just about every hotel within 25 miles of the GOP convention has their rooms on hold for the GOP. They are expected to release unbooked rooms on Aug 1st. Most of the hotels listed on the site now are 25-50 miles out...
Wait.
