Very cool Bradley.

I had heard that they turned Heller down the first time, but I thought it was for a couple of reasons - that his gun held too many rounds or something - and also that he didn't bring it. The conversation I read indicated that he didn't bring it in because he was leery of the possibility of confiscation.

Now I just hope I don't read in the paper that somebody broke in and stole his gun.

The conversation I read indicated that he didn't bring it in because he was leery of the possibility of confiscation.

A couple of things:

One, now he has standing for Heller II, the sequel, coming soon to theaters near you. ;)

Two, the city's emergency legislation made no provisions for law-abiding citizens such as Heller (only an amnesty for those who violated the unconstitutional ban and kept their handguns in the district). In front of all of the cameras and reporters, Heller embarrassed the city by forcing them to say they would not arrest him for bringing his gun from Maryland into the district and have ordered their police NOT to enforce their very flawed emergency legislation.

Three, he highlighted how ridiculous the legislation--and its interpretation--really are: all bottom loading guns are machine guns, all guns capable of 12 or more rounds are machine guns, etc.

There are other things, but those are the main points to the issue you raised.

Is there going to be open carry in the district, or can you only keep the gun in your house?

The local police which are overwhelmed with shootings should welcome the help of citizens to help defend their neighborhoods. Right now it is open season on law abiding citizens with little hope of protection from the police.

DC is small place. You drive across the city in about thirty minute with good traffic.

Now they have to have check points.

As it stands now under the emergency legislation, there is no carry and no operable gun in the home unless under imminent threat.
