they are anti-war and anti-establishment at least, but tom morello was at an event supporting cindy sheehan who, though anti-war, had a very anti-capitalism and pro-socialized healthcare speech
but it's worth a shot - considering rage is also anti-censorship among other things

Good video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JSBhI_0at0
Good lyrics:
"Word is born
Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What?
The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy
Now something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
So rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em
Now action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in
I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
Sick of sick of sick of sick of you
Time has come to pay...
Know your enemy!
Come on!
Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams"

Rage Against The Machine are socialists.
Can I ask you how socialist they can possibly be if they are against price setting as stated in the video I posted?
Don't fool yourselves, these guys are for equality and sovereignty. Those are their main issues they discuss in their music, videos and documentaries. Any leftist tendencies would be born out of the fact that the right wing has represented tyranny throughout North and South America for some time. From Bush to Pinoche, both represent false ideals of the right's small, limited government. These false labels have been applied by the establishment, those who run the clandestine operations by our CIA and private intelligence agencies. Whenever any group of revolutionaries goes after a right-wing tyrannical dictator appointed by the establishment, the revolutionaries are always labeled leftists no matter what their political beliefs are, no matter what they are struggling for. It's like when the media calls Ron Paul and his supporters "leftists", it is a distraction. If you want to fault them for that, it is just being divisive and it is at your own expense, and the expense of the freedom movement. You are playing right into the elite's hands.

Right... not all "revolutionaries" are socialists. But that doesn't prove anything.
Come to think of it, I'm not too sure that Rage Against The Machine stands for. I can't get to youtube from work, so I can't watch your video now. I re-read some of the lyrics of their songs to try and find out, but it just ain't there. They go on and on about how much they defy authority figures, but to what end? I think their music is mainly intended to get kids to listen to them, and think about how much they hate everything, without really offering anything to replace the things they hate so much...
The closest thing to an actual statement of political views I could find in the lyrics was this...
"Landlords and power whores
On my people they took turns
Dispute the suits I ignite
And then watch 'em burn"
That sounds like they don't believe in property rights. or at least not anyone else's. Most people do believe in property rights, but only apply them to themselves.

Rage Against The Machine are socialists.
Hard working, responsible, honest, and dilligent people should not be classified.
I always feel more confident and secure in The knowledge that instructions will be followed, with necessary adjustments made.

Man, so many things going on in St. Paul and we'll be over in Mpls. :(
Steve Earle, Tom Morello to rock Republicans
The outspoken political rockers are playing a union-sponsored Labor Day concert on St. Paul's Harriet Island during the convention's opening day.

QUOTE:"What gives them the right to spout their nonsense? " Whoah, WingerDude, that's a tough question! I'm guessing it might have … read more something to do with that whole silly old 'free speech' thingie.
A famous half-Kenyan Harvard graduate from Illinois in his 40s will be in St. Paul during the Republican National Convention — but it’s not Sen. Barack Obama.
Tom Morello, the activist guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, and another outspoken rocker, Steve Earle, will perform a Labor Day concert on St. Paul’s Harriet Island during the Republican National Convention.
The pair — along with Earle’s country-singer wife, Allison Moorer — committed to appear at the Service Employees International Union’s Labor Day Festival, a three-day event across the river from Xcel Energy Center, where the GOP convention will be based.
A union representing 2 million workers nationwide, SEIU also expects former Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. John Edwards to appear.
SEIU secretary-treasurer Anna Burger would not call the event a protest concert, but said: “It’s no secret that a lot of people have been hurting under the economic policies of the last eight years. We are of course honored and excited by the talent that is lining up to honor working people and to envision a new American dream for the 21st century.”
More talent is lining up for other events, too. The Ripple Effect will play Sept. 2 on the State Capitol Lawn— with free performers, including the radical punk band Anti-Flag, activist reggae/hip-hop stars Michael Franti and Matisyahu, and rap acts Dead Prez and I Self Devine. Members of the Honeydogs and Semisonic are organizing a Sept. 2 festival called ProVention at Midway Stadium in St. Paul. A fundraiser for Obama called Eight Is Enough will take place Aug. 27 at the Turf Club in St. Paul, with Minnesota rock and hip-hop acts such as Low, P.O.S. and Tapes ’N Tapes.
Other well-known performers are confirmed to play more Republican-friendly events. Sammy Hagar and LeAnn Rimes, for example, will perform for private parties at First Avenue and Trocaderos in Minneapolis, respectively, during the convention.
Earle’s and Morello’s management hinted that “friends” might join them Sept. 1. Morello, who endorsed Obama, recently recorded a song with Bruce Springsteen and helmed the Justice Tour this spring, joined by members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and System of a Down.
Earle made waves in 2002 with his post-9/11 album “Jerusalem” and has long stumped for labor-union issues. “I lived in New York in 2004 during the summer of the Republican convention there, basically so I could [mess] with the Republicans,” he told the Star Tribune in March.

Nuh uh. What a buncha crap.
Morello, who endorsed Obama, What's up with these people? I'm so disappointed.
That said, I love Steve Earle. His best song ever "F the CC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlMZGDmABV0)" is a masterpiece!
I just saw Michael Franti & Spearhead a couple weeks ago and they were fantastic (though I think their Obama people, too). Danced the whole night. I would love to see Matisyahu live. His album Live at Stubb's is awesome.

I don't know if Zack de la Rocha is a socialist or not but in 2003 he released the song "March of Death" to protest the invasion of Iraq along with this statement:
Without just cause or reason, without legal or moral justification, and without a thread of proof that Iraq directly threatens the security of the United States, the Bush administration has headed to war. As I am writing this, bombs are raining upon the defenseless civilians of Baghdad in a continuation of a policy that has already claimed the lives of over 1 million innocent Iraqi people. People just like us who want democracy but find themselves cornered by a dictator on one side, naked U.S. aggression on another, and the oil beneath their country; for which it appears they are to be massacred.
Lies, sanctions, and cruise missiles have never created a free and just society. Only everyday people can do that, which is why I'm joining the millions world wide who have stood up to oppose the Bush administration's attempt to expand the U.S. empire at the expense of human rights at home and abroad. In this spirit I'm releasing this song for anyone who is willing to listen. I hope it not only makes us think, but also inspires us to act and raise our voices.
In case you haven't heard, de la Rocha is now part of the band One Day as a Lion. They are releasing an album tomorrow.
