That's not a knife. THIS is a knife.

Yeah. But the one I posted will make a bigger hole. 800 psi in the neck would not feel good.

Not if I stick you first.

The original concept was actually on the end of a stick.

Wow. An injection knife. So if you stab someone with this, they explode? I was wondering when someone would come up with something like this.

Not only that, but it apparently freezes your internal organs AS you are being blown up. I think I would rather get shot than stabbed with that thing!

This weapon injects a frozen ball of compressed gas approximately the size of a basketball at 800psi nearly instantly. The effects of this injection will drop many of the world's largest land predators. The effects of the compressed gas not only cause over-inflation during ascent when used underwater, but also freezes all tissues and organs surrounding the point of injection on land or at sea. When used underwater, the injected gas carries the predator to the surface BEFORE blood is released into the water. Thus giving the diver added protection by diverting other potential predators to the surface.

Perhaps if I couldn't own a gun and I needed a self-defense weapon that could reliably take someone down a single strike...

Sounds also like an excellent weapon for defense against sharks while diving. That could easily replace the "bang stick" (a shotgun shell discharger on the end of a speargun) as it is more compact and easily carried.

Holy shit! As soon as I get a new job and some extra cash I am getting one of these. Hopefully making the extra cash for one of these things won't be too much effort. As soon as Congress finds out this exists they will get rid of it!

Holy cr@p that is the most insane thing I have ever seen. Although I think it may be a bit loud by special opps standards

I don't understand how this would be practical. He seemed to struggle with it, taking at least a second to engage the air-injector....

in theory, and with training, you should be able to stab and inject, but for more impact, the deeper the knife, the bigger the bang.
so- training in thrust maneuvers would be top priority.
Someone earlier suggested putting it on a stick. I think a spear version would be useful too.. in fact-

they could make the triggering mechanism automatic with a risen section of the blade as a trigger. but it may not go off if you don't penetrate enough, or from an angle.

oh- make the firing mechanism horizontal, instead of vertical to the blade.
facing outward over the blade. as you thrust the knife in, the persons body presses the trigger once you are deep enough.
Takes away your slicing ability from one side of the blade, but it you can't get the job done with one edge, you aren't going to be able to do it with two either.

In the SCUBA world there is a spear that does what this knife does. It uses a CO2 cartridge (from a BB gun). Commonly used in lieu of the Bang Stick (a shotgun shell on a stick) to keep sharks away.

There was a movie, I forget the name of which, about a giant underwater lobster that attacked some undersea missile platform and the air-injection spear was used in that film.
