DURAND, Wis. - Ron Paul supporter Sean Scallon took the oath of office last evening to become the newest member of the Pepin County (Wisconsin) Board of Supervisors.

Scallon was appointed to the board in May top represent District No. 8 (which includes the village of Arkansaw and the Town of Waterville) and he took his oath at the July board meeting at the Pepin County Government Center. His appointment came upon the recommendation of the Waterville Township Board where Mr. Scallon lives.

Scallon replaces long-time board member Dan Pittman who decided not to run for re-election in April. Several write-in candidates tied for top vote getter in the election, including Scallon, and he was picked from this group to represent District No. 8.

Scallon is a journalist and free-lance writer by trade. He was an early supporter of Ron Paul's presidential camapaign, participating in Clifton Coalition conference calls, and working throught the Minnesota Meet-up Groups. He wrote many favorable columns about Ron Paul that can be found at Etherzone.com (www.etherzone.com). He was at the Des Moines rally and the Iowa Straw Poll and spent the fall of 2007 writing letters to Iowa college students and Wyoming Republican Party Precinct Chairman urging them to support Ron Paul. He also designed a campaign commercial for Ron Paul that appeared on the local cable-access channel which ran for several weeks before the Wisconsin Presidential Primary.

Scallon's term in office lasts until 2010. While Wisconsin county members are listed as non-partisan, Scallon says he will be a "Libertarian-Constitutional" party fusionist.
