I thought this was a money bomb for BreaktheMatrix?

you think it would be common knowledge what the event is for since BTM marketing team is doing such a fine job promoting the event.

I can't find what StrangeBedFellows is planning to do with the money. Are they going to run advertisements, sponsor protests, bribe politicians or what?

Yes, I am also highly confused. How exactly will a "money bomb" stop Congress from granting telecommunications companies retroactive immunity?

It's too late to stop it. The Senate passed the FISA Bill today:

"Senate bows to Bush, approves surveillance bill"
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080709/ap_on_bi_ge/terrorist_surveillance

The PAC that the fundraiser's for has already raised over $300,000 for the Stop FISA effort.. however, it's too late now, the Bill passed today.

"...The AccountabilityNowPAC was originally formed by our leftist Strangebedfellow members as a fundraising vehicle
to block a Congressional leadership “compromise” on the corrupt FISA reauthorization bill now [passed] in the Senate.
Over $300,000 has already been raised by the PAC..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looks like Trevor and Rick hired themselves for the fund raising.
"Who are the StrangeBedfellows?
Strangebedfellows... encompasses Ron Paul supporters (BreakTheMatrix.com (http://www.breakthematrix.com/), Rick Williams and Trevor Lyman),
leading bloggers from the left (Glenn Greenwald of Salon.com (http://www.salon.com/), Jane Hamsher of firedoglake.com (http://www.firedoglake.com/))...
...Strangebedfellows has retained BreakTheMatrix to serve as our moneybomb organizer and service provider
for a massive donations collection effort..."
dont believe the MSM... get your BTM news at the BTM forums. Like it or not its a product of our community and much more reliable in presenting information about its own affairs than the Washington Post.
if only they'd take the BTM news to the BTM forums and quit spamming these...
that'd be asking too much i'm sure.
funny though that there is one thread for each of the most visited sub-forums on the site.
i have to chalk this up to one of the funniest (situationally) blog entries i've ever read,
Paul Camp, Liberals Unite On Spy Bill
BY AMY SCHATZ
Word Count: 582
WASHINGTON -- 1) The fight over immunity for telecom companies in domestic-spying legislation is creating an unexpected side effect: unity among liberal bloggers and Ron Paul supporters.
2) Liberal activists and supporters of the Texas Republican and former presidential candidate plan to join forces Thursday and begin a "money bomb" protest of lawmakers who support telecom immunity in the Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act. During a "money bomb," grassroots activists donate money during a short period of time -- usually a day --3) to create buzz and raise money for their candidate.
4) The effort is timed to coincide with a planned Senate vote ...
1) Unity among liberal bloggers and Ron Paul supporters? I take this as a reference to StrangeBedfellows? I didn't realize they were founded as a response to telecomm immunity, nor that they were spokesmen for "ron paul supporters."
This is getting Parental.
2) A moneybomb protest of lawmakers... so cheap. "Stick it to the man, gimme ya monies."
3) Wait, the money is going to a candidate? No it isn't, but that's what Ms. Schatz would like to lead you to believe.
4) Ewwww.... fail.
I could not even find this "money bomb" to read about it.
Probably won't donate due to the "profit" thingy.
Any link for it?
I saw an article that suggested a money bomb-so to speak- for Feingold and withholding money from Obama.
