We are a Constitutional representative republic in which our representatives are elected democratically.

Our gov't is allowed to commit aggression against property owners, nothing else matters.

Democracy is a process by which a republic decided its laws.

Personally, I think that what we have is a Fascistic Oligarchy.

So, we're neither a democracy nor a republic.

I guess the question should have been worded, 'Are we supposed to be a Republic or a Democracy?'

Perhaps you didn't view the video in post #11.

We are not talking about parties here but what form of government we are supposed to have.

Since one definition is that both are synonyms we are both.
Of course in real life most "elected" people aren't from lower levels of the population.
They are also not doing what is good for the people or what is good for the country.

I think that I'll still just stick with "plutocratic oligarchy". ;)

"Republic or a Democracy", is a smokescreen charade.<IMHO>

If you want the right answers, it's often necessary to ask the right questions. ;)

No we're not founded on theocracy.

Where do you think our Founders got their ideas for establishing a republic? They came from the assumption that God is the Ruler of all things, and thus, rights and laws only come rightly from Him. It's real easy to understand this. (http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=8755)

The first person to hate Democracy was Plato because the process was used to convict Socrates. When those in power saw that a smaller jury wasn't going to be enough to convict Socrates of impiety, they just expanded the jury until the conviction was assured.
During their time, our founding fathers had little to do but to read with the Greek classics being popular. They were well aware of Plato's hatred for Democracy.

I know that, and I think all forms of government are a sham.
