View Full Version : Congressional Approval Falls to Single Digits for First Time Ever

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category...

Just 12% of voters think Congress has passed any legislation to improve life in this country over the past six months. That number has ranged from 11% to 13% throughout 2008. The majority of voters (62%) say Congress has not passed any legislation to improve life in America...

Voters hold little positive sentiment about the future. Just 41% find it at least somewhat likely that Congress will address important problems facing our nation in the near future, while 55% find this unlikely.

Despite these negative attitudes towards Congress, Democrats continue to enjoy a double digit lead on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

And what will the people do to fix this? Likely vote for the same old Democrats and Republicans. “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” - Albert Einstein

If any of us have any compunctions against kicking them while they're down, then for the good of the nation:

Get over it!

This is opportunity. Our nation needs us to seize it.

Agreed.

Optimal scenario:

Right now, most of the frustration of the people is directed at the Republicans. If Obama gets elected, things will continue to get worse, and the frustration will be directed at both Dems and Reps.

And then we can see some serious change.

I doubt it. The same thing has been going on forever and freedom never wins. I'm sure everything will be blamed on the market or something else besides the government itself.

I'm pushing half a century on this earth. I've been paying attention to politics since I emulated my respected older sister and watched the Watergate hearings at the age of eleven. I've never seen sentiment in the nation like this. Ever.

What's great is almost all of them will be reelected by a large margin.

Agreed, but nobody understands the cause of our problems. Government. They are all clamoring for Barack Obama, universal healthcare, and more socialism and slavery. Until we can educate a large mass of people, there will not be a realization that the root of almost all of society's problems is government. A failed Obama Presidency will not do a thing as people will likely blame it on residual effects from Bush or something else. There is no understanding of history, economics, or the illegetimacy of government because of public school as well as all other forms of indoctrination.

I wonder if it would do any good when we meet the public to carry copies of the voting records of local politicians. Thereby showing constituents how their representatives actually voted. If they voted poorly, then offer them a good alternate to vote for in the future.

This also gives me the idea that on the CFL website, this information should be made available, so there isn't any debate about how our reps are voting.

Thus, in post-Judeo-Christian America, the sports club is the new church. Global warming is the new religion. Vegetarianism is the new sacrament. Hooking up, the new prayer. Talk therapy, the new witnessing. Tattooing and piercing, the new sacred symbols and rituals.
And apparently, Barack Obama is the new messiah.

The voting system must undergo a radical transformation. The biggest handicap the people have right now is that the voting system is severely broken. Like someone said, single digit approval ratings yet somehow some of these morons will get re-elected. How you ask? Their corrupt buddies in each county/precinct/voting station control the vote count, or voting machine. Until this changes nothing will really change for the better in this country.

Damn you're right! I read an article that said the economy is now on the rebound. Did you see the markets are all up today? It's turning around, we're saved all thanks to Bernanke. Well I guess everyone can go out and blow those rebate cheques now that everything will be just fine...

The poll is "cooked". The approval rate isn't that high. :D
