So much for the flowerbed at the mailbox...

*&^%$#%^&

Just when we seemed to have the armadillo problem under control....along comes....a pack of feral hogs.

Did you get to see them? Like boars with tusks or are there feral hogs with no tusks?

You should be able to trap them, and if they aren't too big, turn them into tasty sausage.

Couldn't tell much about them last night. I was standing at the kitchen sink washing dishes, hubby walked out the front door and came back in, grabbed the spot and went back out. I went to the door and saw them just as the last of them made it to the top of the hill across the way...about 6 of 'em...Bill said there were 10 - 12 of 'em in the group.

Chatted with the neighbor today, her husband noticed them around their place night before last. They dug up her foundation plantings. :(

Did you know Texas has more feral hogs than any other state in the nation?

If Texas law is any similarity to Florida, you can shoot ferals hogs on your property year round without a license.

If there is no gentleman about who will take care of these hogs, check with the crew in the bearing arms forum on what the best rifle would be for the task and you can take care of this matter yourself - and get some pork out of the deal too.

A marinade in Jim Beam and (organic) cola works best.

I writeth not from the high horse, however, as I ended up having to stab my last hog with a bayonette.

How they taste will depend on what they've ate.

I've never seen a wild hog here. Plenty of Rabbits and Coyotes. Snap some mug shots of these tuber eating scoundrels.

Can you make some snares? That at least would make them hang around long enough to get a good shot at them.

Claymore!

What if she sends a very, very important letter into orbit?

Or did you mean the sword is mightier than the bayonet?

I must confess, I saw the headline and I wondered what those jackasses in Washington were doing to us now. Don't mean to belittle your problem, ma'am, but I was somewhat relieved to discover it was only the real thing.

My great uncle used to own a hunting lease, once a year the whole family would get together and sweep the whole place for hogs. One year they killed three hundred of them.

Anything bigger than a piglet is no good for eating (to Americans, French people love boar meat, though). They would take a couple of piglets each for the meat, and sell the rest to a dog food factory.

If you buy dog food that says anything about "real meat" or "real pork", you may be buying wild boar meat from his lease.

A little history on wild boars in GA

I'd agree that the larger wild hogs are probably a little gamey, but if you are hungry, a 500# boar might just be the ticket.......just plan on cooking him a looonnngggg time....
