"Sorry that it has been a little while since I have found time to post here on RonPaulBlog.com. Last week, I accepted the position of Event Coordinator for the upcoming events that the Campaign for Liberty is planning for the week of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, and it has certainly been keeping me busy.

I am happy to report that since coming on board, we have added several exciting speakers and musicians to the line-up for BOTH of the big shows we have in production. Since negotiations are ongoing with as yet unsigned talent, I must keep those names to myself for now, but keep an eye on the Campaign for Liberty website (We have announced Tucker Carlson, Gary Johnson and Aimee Allen, but that is just the beginning.)

We will be rolling out more details about this two-day celebration of liberty scheduled for September 1st and 2nd, including a website and a contest to choose a name and theme. The ambitious schedule now fills both days so plan accordingly.

I have received many e-mails asking about what we plan to do and what we seek to accomplish. Here is the Campaign for Liberty’s working mission statement for St. Paul:

“The Campaign for Liberty event planned for September 1st and 2nd will be a celebration of our movement and our supporters, a launch party for the Campaign for Liberty, and a clarion call to the Republican Party to return to its roots of limited government, personal responsibility, and protection of our natural rights. The event will run in conjunction with the first two days of the Republican National Convention and will feature top conservative speakers, musicians, and organizations. It will also have an organizational and training function for the Campaign for Liberty and the Freedom Movement.”

I strongly recommend that you start looking for accommodations now if you plan to attend. The RNC has bought up prime blocks of hotel rooms for their delegates, party leaders, and guests. We have also been buying rooms, as well as securing camp ground space, but the demand will likely far outstrip supply. The RNC plans to release their extra rooms on August 1st, so that’s a date to keep in mind. We will also be rolling out an online tool very soon to help put locals with extra space together with folks needing rooms in Minnesota.

I have always been an adherent to the axiom “under promise and over perform,” but I have to tell you how excited I am for this event. I have heard our efforts compared to Valley Forge when Washington marched out with his troops renewed, equipped, and ready to fight for the independence of our nation. So too shall we.

Yours in liberty,

Don Rasmussen

Thanks for the update, Don! This is really exciting! Our Ron Paul Delegates are going to be torn between serving as Ron Paul ambassadors over at the RNC in St. Paul and participating in all the CFL events in Mpls.
