"Ok, ok I know... most of us Republicans are instantly turned off at the slightest mention of Karl Marx. After all, back during the cold war the threat of communist Russia was the main concern of our great nation. It stands to reason that Marxism and likewise Karl Marx got a bad name because of this.
There are plenty of well thought out critiques of Mr. Marx's philosophy. However, in the current era our biggest threat is no longer Russia, but the Islamo Fascists. In light of this, I think it is important we revisit the philosophy and legacy of Karl Marx.
Taking a closer look at what the man actually wrote reveals a great magnitude of accurate predictions and good ideas. After our capitalist culture peaked, it became necessary to begin regulating industry and the money supply for the common good. The capitalist machine is a great hinderance on the governments ability to legistalte swiftly and effectively. While of course I don't propose we switch to Baryy Obama's style of socialism, we do need to make sure the government has adequeate control over the markets and wealth of the nation. It is vital to gaurding our nation from those who seek to do us harm.
Senator McCain is well aware of this, and a close look at his platform reveals quite a heavy influence by Marx. I don't mean the demonized Marx of the cold war era, but the thoughtful Marx that realized the importance of government intervention into the marketplace.
In light of this, I feel the time has come to award Karl Marx a congressional medal of honor. All those in favor, say aye!"
