This was the largest anti-war group in American history, dedicated to keeping America out of WW2, until they (rightly, IMHO) disbanded after Pearl Harbor.

Their goals were as follows:
"-The United States must build an impregnable defense for America.
-No foreign power, nor group of powers, can successfully attack a prepared America.
-American democracy can be preserved only by keeping out of other people's wars.
-Foreign Aid weakens national defense at home and threatens to involve America in war abroad.
Despite the onset of war in Europe, an overwhelming majority of the American people wanted to stay out of the new war if they could.[CMH, Chapter 19]. The AFC tapped into this widespread anti-war feeling in the years leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor and the U.S. entry into the war."
sounds a bit like Ron Paul huh?

America First lobbying ensured that we didn't get involved in WW2 until we had to, and therefore saved American lives.
Since the America First Committee has since gotten a bad rep for opposing the "good war", we might want to change the name for the new group. But the name should be something equally "America-oriented" to combat those who would label us a bunch of hippy-traitors.

The new group could perhaps be against a war with Iran, or a broader Middle-East war in general. Instead of "fighting Europe's war," we could be against "fighting Israel's war," or "fighting the Saudi's war," as our slogan. The group would have no ideological requirements other than non-interventionism. Paleoconservatives, Libertarians, Anti-war Liberals, or anyone else could join, and it could become a powerful anti-war lobby. We'd beat the washington interventionists at their own game (lobbying)

check out the book called 'war is a racket' by smedly butler.
pretty much has the same ideas but explained by a high ranking marine in the '30s who got tired of being the 'strong man for wall street and big business in america.'

If the Campaign for Liberty adopted more of a America's First message on the issue of Foreign Policy, CFL could gain more mainstream members, and have a large impact.
