Introducing the first Students for Ron Paul competition. This contest tests your creativity, imagination, and design abilities. It will determine who can think outside of the box and develop fresh ways to cause students to react, mobilize, and vote for Ron Paul.

What issues get you fired up? The $9 trillion debt? Your friends dying overseas? A social security system you want out of? Banned medical procedures that save lives? Your taxes? A looming draft? Your civil rights under attack? Selling our country to China?

Your mission, if you so choose, is to create the best Ron Paul flyer, slimjim, sticker, and/or promotional item. Create as many designs as you like. All ages can participate. The guidelines are simple: be creative, make an impact, and gear your design towards students.

Submit your designs to: jeff.frazee@ronpaul2008.com

The campaign staff will review all submissions and choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. A winner will be chosen Monday, September 3rd. 1st place will receive a congratulatory phone call from the man himself, Ron Paul, and a signed copy of “A Foreign Policy of Freedom”, a Students for Ron Paul t-shirt, and a bumper sticker. 2nd place will receive a signed photograph by Ron Paul, a Students for Ron Paul t-shirt, and a bumper sticker. And 3rd place will receive a Students for Ron Paul t-shirt, a bumper sticker, and a pat on the back (from someone in your area).

To get you started here is a link to the official Students for Ron Paul logo, although it is not required to be incorporated in your design.
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/snippets...

Photos can be found by searching “Ron Paul” on Flickr.com. Be sure to ask permission from the photographer before using a photo.

Ron Paul quotes are very effective to incorporate in your message. Also, here are some key student issues. Feel free to focus your design on a specific issue.

Draft/war
National debt
Social Security
Taxes
Immigration
Civil Liberties
Drug war
Censorship/Internet

All designs will be judged on:
1) Effectiveness
2) Creativity
3) Gets the message across
4) Relates to students
5) Does it look good in black and white as well

Best of Luck!

Dumb question, but what is a slim jim?

It's information on a 3" x 7" think piece of glossy card stock. It also doubles as a virtually non-disposable meatlike item.

I just came up with this idea a little while ago. I made a normal thread about it, but I figured I'd post it here, too.
Also, I was hoping I could get some help with the flyer. But anyway, here's a poorly explained version of my idea:

First of all, I want to say that my writing isn’t as clear as I had hoped. I’ve been in very engaging, long classes all day, so my brain is a bit sluggish right now (but I’m too excited to take a break).

As I was sitting in my last class--social psychology--a little bit ago, I thought of a really good (maybe even great!) idea for a flyer. I am confident enough in Ron Paul (the person) and his message to believe that this idea--while not directly promoting Ron Paul (which could work to our advantage)--will end up being pro-Ron Paul.

The flyer might be called something like “Choose Your Candidate,” and will include questions/inquiries into what the person filling out the flyer-questionnaire considers to be good/bad characteristics, attributes, credentials, ideas, etc. for their ideal presidential candidate to have, and they can rate their opinions on a scale (or whatever other system of measurement we decide on) of least to most preferable.

In case that isn’t clear enough to give you an idea of what I’m talking about, here are some very rough examples of questions that we might put on the flyer:

So maybe a sample question could be: On a scale from 1-5 (or 1-10 or whatever), rate the following occupations according to how positive they are for our next president to have (and maybe we can have something like, choose two:
And then we can list some options like: 1. lawyer __ , 2. lobbyist ___ , 3. medical doctor ___ , 4. Congressman/-woman ___ , 5. governor ___ , 6. s/he has always been a politician ___ , etc.

Or maybe: On a scale of 1-5 (1 being stay in Iraq, 5 being it’s imperative that we come home), how important is it that our next president brings our troops home from Iraq? ____

On a scale of 1-5 (1 being not at all, 5 being very important), do you think that the next president should consider all options to be on the table (including nuclear strikes) when it comes to preemptive military action against Iran? ____

And maybe: On a scale of 1-5 (1 being absolutely not, and 5 being strongly agree), do you think that our next president should end the war on drugs? ___

Or even: Ideally, do you want the next president to continue to collect income taxes? ___

And: On a scale from 1-5, how important is it that our next president follow the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights? ___

Et cetera.

And there are soooo many other variations, options, and questions that we can address on the quiz. We should probably address things like the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and other horrible limits to our freedom and sovereignty also (you know, make it sound like the potential tyrannical, fascist dictatorship that we are heading towards). I bet most people are repulsed by the thought of such a powerful government (especially in America).
I hope that I am being adequately clear about what I am talking about.

So, if you think that my preliminary flyer concept has potential, would you please help me in the creation of such a flyer? I know that there are several very talented people on the forums that can help with this. I think that if we make this a collaborative effort and try not to argue too much, we can create something that will win over many, many people. And the great part is that they won’t know that we are supporting Ron Paul (unless, of course, you always wear your Ron Paul button, t-shirts, etc.). I know that some people around here are intelligent and clever enough to create a great quiz that will be slanted in favor of Ron Paul (yes, I want to be biased and manipulative--I want to win over as many people as possible). If the media can do it up on their pedestal, then we can do it in our little quiz.

And then after they are finished, they can add up their points (or whatever grading scale/method we choose to use), and then refer to either the back of the flyer or we can make a website for people to go to so they can learn who they have chosen and where they can go to learn more about the candidate.

Most people will probably end up being in favor of Ron Paul, and so this will give us a great opportunity to inform people, get his name out, increase people’s interest in him and the presidential campaign (since so many people are apathetic and dropping out because the forecast seems hopeless), and give them an initial, personal investment in Dr. Paul since he is what they consider to be an ideal candidate.

And, if the people end up being more inline with another candidate, they can see things about him/her (i.e., the dirt), and then maybe we can even use the candidate comparison chart (maybe even a revamped version just for this flyer-questionnaire).
I think that we can look to the candidate comparison chart that max made, and also things like the original Liberty Card as an example/influence/inspiration (go to this website and scroll down past the first two cards to see “The Original Liberty Card”: http://www.libertytalk.com/liberty_card.php ).

So basically we will be handing out a political quiz, but hopefully we can make it so that most people will definitely choose Ron Paul.

Will you help me?

do you want the next president to continue to collect income taxes?

No president has ever collected income taxes.

Yes. You're right. Sorry for not being more specific. I usually rush through what I write on here. You know what I'm getting at though, right?
