Here's a prime example of big government nanny statism! Listen to Rep. Spencer Bachus [R-AL] state that we need a government prohibition on Internet gaming to protect us from ourselves (from today's hearing on HR 5767, a bill cosponsored by Ron Paul):

I wouldn't be at all surprised if these nanny-staters' opposition to online gambling wasn't being stoked by a few "friendly" contributions from the established Big Boys in the gaming industry.

What do you do when you don't like upstart competition and you've got money to burn?

Pay off politicians to artificially stifle your competition, which would flourish in a market environment.

Government = the creators and protectors of monopoly privilege. It's that simple.

What do you mean WTF??? This is a big issue for Dr. Paul. It involves freedom, liberty, and Internet censorship. Here's Dr. Paul at today's hearing:

the NV GOP...is fighting Ron Paul so diligently. Suzanne (Sue) Lowden, NV State GOP Chair has tremendous influence and ownership within the gaming industry in this state. She and her husband Paul used to own the Sahara and still sit on the BOD. She is also on the BOD of several other gaming entities. When I first moved here, I was told that gaming pretty much owns the politics of this state. I'm not against gaming whether it is online or in a casino, and I am definnitely for letting people make their own decisions. No nanny state.

It's all TheEngineer thinks about, the rest of the world can burn as long as he can keep playing poker online. He's even admitted to being (basically) a single-issue voter.

And yuppers, WTF is about right.

And, I'm not a single issue voter. I just happen to care about my liberty. You sound like a Ron Paul opponent, complaining that people want freedom. What's next? Are you going to call me a "Paulbot" or a "Losertarian"?!?!?

I think you're on the wrong forum, troll.

[/B]I said nothing AGAINST online poker. Merely that it seems to be the only thing YOU care about; whereas for other people it is a relatively minor thing that they really aren't all that concerned about.

And everyone who doesn't have the identical set of priorities to yourself is NOT a troll.

P.S. And about the "single-issue" thing... a week of so ago in another thread or two you DID declare that it was VIRTUALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WHOLE WORLD TO YOU. (It's certainly just about the only ISSUE you ever post anything about... one quick look at your posting history will verify that... to anyone who is interested.)

LOL. I said the guide I write on Internet Poker Rights on the PPA site is single-issue BY DEFINITION!! I didn't say I'm single issue. I'm not.

Many of my posts here are to support Ron Paul's legislation, of course. A lot of that is because I'm on the Poker Players Alliance board of directors, so it's natural that I'd update folks here on this issue that Ron Paul happens to be passionate about. Again, this gets into Internet censorship and the very idea of being allowed to spend one's own money without first getting permission from the federal government. Most of us don't see that as "relatively minor".

Anyway, it's really sad that you'd disparage strong supporters of Ron Paul, even to the point of speaking ill of Ron Paul's pro-liberty legislation, just to push your pro-Baldwin agenda.

I will stand with TheEngineer! Even if on-line gambling is not my issue. It is TheEngineer's issue and all issues are important. Once long ago there was an issue over motorcycle helmits in our state. It was not an issue to me because I don't ride motorcycles. So I ignored the issue and now everyone must wear a motorcycle helmit in our state. I was wrong! I should have spoken up. Today we have seat belt laws that upset me and no one cares..... We all have different issues but we need to protect each others issues. United we stand, divided we fall.

That's just sad and pathetic. I won't even dignify that with a response, troll. Suffice it to say, no one here will criticize me for being pro-liberty.

Just go look at his post history...

I believe I was the one who claimed to be the "single issue" voter (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showpost.php?p=1498085&postcount=84). Again though, that was for just this fall as I will not vote for McCain or Obama. If TheEngineer posted he was too, I didn't see it. Looking at his post history, I see TE has rated CB overall as an A- (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showpost.php?p=1502133&postcount=112), even with his F rating for poker. He rates Obama a C on Poker, but F overall. Your claim that he would be wearing a McCain or Obama pin doesn't hold up by looking at his posting history.

I imagine if some in the government were trying to legislate away your job, you might consider it important, perhaps even the most important thing in the world (I don't, but it is very high on the list). Especially if that job is one you enjoy, can do anywhere in the world on your own time, work for yourself, etc (yes, there are negatives too).

On the Other Presidential Candidates subforum, it seems a few rogue Baldwin supporters have resorted to smearing anyone with any questions about their candidate. Lies don't bother these guys, either. It's all about shouting everyone else down.

As everyone can now see, they've now resorted to trolling the rest of the forum, and even to disparaging legislation Ron Paul strongly and passionately supports as "minor". Other Presidential Candidates has become a useless subforum on an awesome site, unfortunately.

Lay off my man Engineer! He's been fighting for liberty longer than you've even been on the forum. And by the way, if YOU made your living from internet poker, I bet you'd be right there alongside him. There's nothing wrong with one-issue-voting, as long as you're knowledgeable and come down on the right side.

Keep up the fight, Engineer! I'll have a statement from Mr. Delavar as soon as I talk to him again and we can hammer something out :)

This sounds like complete BS!

Addiction? Porn can be addicting. TV can be addicting. RPF can be

of these!

You are gonna censor the internet to stop kids from gambling? This
is the silliest thing I've heard in a while!
