Trying to determine interest in campaign workshops, from the fundamentals of running a campaign for office, to how to deal with the media, to seminars on particular issues with experts, etc. What I'm looking for right now is how much interest there is in this kind of thing, how many people would we need to plan for. Would you come to MN a day early for this?

Given that the first is Labor Day, I think it very likely that people will begin showing up Saturday the 30th. However, to have people tired from the road and attend workshops, well, they'd better be special--something more than what you get in the average meet-up.

Hey Marianne,

Have you been it touch with speciallyblend who is organizing Ronstock08?

I think the mud sliding is at least a day before the convention. :D

I've got my ticket, and I'll be flying in on Sunday, 8/31, and I have guest credentials for the RNC. I'm planning to volunteer for RLC while I'm there, but I'm going to the rally on 9/2. If I think that the workshops are worth my time, I might show up.

It would probably work out well to do campaign workshops at the Ronstock event.

On a separate note, I think it would also be beneficial to plan a march at the MN State Fair on Aug 31st or Sep 1st. What do you think?

Marianne - Don shared some info about the rally stretching to 2 days here:

Concerts and such are great but I hope there are some organizing and training seminars like you describe.

Iowa hasn't selected its delegates yet - I hope to be among them. Either way, I'll be in the Cities for several days and I know several Iowans who plan to be there for the duration as well.

Last time I checked, it cost about $200 more to come on September 1st than September 2nd.
